Here is what Mickey had to say about his decision, according to LSUSports.net:
quote:

“Today I will be announcing that I will forego my final two years of eligibility here at LSU and enter my name in the 2015 NBA Draft,” the text from Mickey stated. “This was a tough decision because I hate to leave my teammates and LSU family. We have been through a lot in the past two years as we have grown as a team. This is just the beginning for LSU, I’m confident great things are coming in the near future for this team as they continue to grow. I wanted things to end on a better note but due to injuries I was limited in what I could do for my team, trust that I gave it my all.

“After discussing my options with my family I believe it is my time to move on and accept new challenges at the next level. I want to first thank “God” for giving me the talent to play the game that I love so much. I want to thank my Mom and Dad for all of the support they have gave me over the years. Last but not least I want to thank the Coaching staff, Teammates and the LSU fans, I will always be a Tiger at heart forever,” the text from Mickey concluded.

This is not a "Mickey Family" decision. This is a Hunter/Wright decision. The same advisors to move him from home district school to Richardson Berkner to Arlington Grace Prep to Prime Prep. All within a high school career. I know for a fact his biological father (OU Tight End, 93 Cowboys) wanted and offered for him to receive personal instruction from a position coach during 9th, 10th, 11th and his senior year in hopes of preparing him to play the 3. We all would have liked to see this young man not only stay AT LEAST another year to further his basketball skills but to also get closer to a degree. This is very high on his fathers side of the family but we still wish Jordan nothing but the best and will always be here if/when he needs us as he is blood. We love you Jordan! Boomer Sooner!

Don't know the Mickey family's financial situation, but unless they're destitute, this decision doesn't make much sense.

This can't be right because he's not getting drafted. Guess he's ready to go play in China?

Probably should have stayed one more year. Could have been a mentor to the younger superstars coming in, and would have meant a much deeper/talented bench for next year. But hey, what are you going to do? When a team is willing to throw big money at you, you kinda gotta go......
