BATON ROUGE, La. – Tyrell Ward beats the buzzer for a last-second tip-in to give LSU (14-12, 6-7 SEC) a 75-74 win over No. 17 Kentucky (18-8, 8-5 SEC) Wednesday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for its second consecutive top-20 victory and its third against a nationally ranked opponent this season.

For the fifth time over a seven-game span, and for the third consecutive game, the Tigers rallied back from a double-digit second-half deficit as they trailed the Wildcats by as many as 15 points before the Fighting Tigers stormed back and took a 48-46 lead with 13:15 left to play.

Ward set a career-high for the second consecutive game, scoring a team-high 17 points, shooting 5-of-10 from the field, and knocking down three triples. Jalen Reed and Jordaan Wright followed with 13 points each.

That was such a high basketball IQ play by Wright to keep the ball in play as he was falling out of bounds with a split second to do it. And Ward breaking to the basket with time running out. Would have never done that earlier in the season. Great win!

What a great night for the Tiger Nation and national audience and on ESPN no-less. Ward came from far out by the 3 point line hustled his butt off to get there and if Wright doesn't get the block of his own shot and throw it back under the basket!
Win or lose....glad for those young men who never give up whether SOME of their fans do or not!

I remember the beating we put on them in 81. First day of spring semester and we skipped to wait in line. That was the Greg Cook year when on TV he said Eyes bees ready for Sam Bowie

This is always the single game of the year I will NOT miss for basketball season. There's ne better feeling in the world than beating Kentucky's basketball team. Even when they're having a down year. There's just something magic about beating that team from Lexington.

Well done, Tigers!

True, but think perspective. LSU having a down year and Kentucky is having a down year. One is still probably a top 4 seed and one may not make the NIT. Good win for the Tigers.
