How will a Big 12 team that wins the conference championship be worthy of a bye? They aren't really worthy of being ranked in the top 10 since both Texas and OU will be joining the SEC this coming season.

The SAME was said about XII, ACC, B1G, PAC, & (I'm sure SEC).

How many teams in the current Big 12 have a similar roster in current teams in the SEC and B1G? That is why the Big 12 is a watered-down conference now.

Ohio St. doesn’t have a QB and Michigan lost their head coach and many starters/contributors. I like Oregon in the B1G.

Injuries through added games will all but guarantee some lesser teams will win it all

You lost me here. How does a playoff not help determine a proper champion? You think an opinionated, biased voting system set up by the media is better than actually playing it out on the field?

This isn’t a good argument. Managing injuries is part of the game.

Not gonna lie, this 12 team playoff for cfb is going to be sexy.

Teams like Ole Miss and Missouri get in now and get a shot to knock a Michigan, Bama, or Ohio State out of the way.

Can’t get here soon enough.

More fans are going to be upset with the top 4 seatings who get the payoff byes, than the 13th team that's left out. And there won't be anything sexy about it.

Giving the highest-ranked conference champions an automatic bye is wrong. Why should a one or two-loss SEC team have to play a first-round game because an 8-4 Big 12 team won their conference? What's fair about that?

Why can't the top 4 teams in the committee playoff poll, after all the conference championship games have been played, simply, get the playoff byes into the quarter-finals and move on?

It isn't an argument - it is a fact... a fact supported by the prohibition of the NFL drafting younger players. Their position is: “To be eligible for the draft, players must have been out of high school for at least three years and must have used up their college eligibility before the start of the next college football season.” "It is believed that the physical, mental, and emotional demands of playing in the league would make it extremely difficult for a young man to succeed in the NFL." "The tension appears to be between considering the rights of the player, and what is best for him and the sport."

Can't make everyone happy. So don't try.

I like the 12 game playoff. I would've been fine with 8. Didn't care for the 4.

12 is good. 12 is what it is. If you don't like it, it'll be okay. Life goes on.

We talking about the college football playoffs. Not the NFL.

Yay! Let's eliminate all the things that made college football unique and turn it into the stale, corporate product like the NFL!!! Progress!!!

And the added wear and tear on players bodies will result in more injuries - injuries that may well jeopardize their chance for the league. This isn't rocket science. You are just being obstinate. This is something administrators have discussed - and they happened to believe the profitability was worth the risk. I just happen to disagree

No one is forcing these guys to play football. They can quit whenever they want. Yes, I understand that adding more games will increase the risk of injury. With that said, it’s irrelevant. Football is a privilege. Not a right. Stop treating football players like they’re children, because I promise you they’re not. They wanted the money, the clout and all the pussy that comes with it. Well, guess what. The powers that be want their pound of flesh in the process. Football is a violent sport with a lot of money involved.

And I go back to my original premise - it will result in lesser teams winning the championship... teams that do not belong to a brutal conference and conference schedule - and according to you - "them's the breaks"

Disagree - teams that can endure the schedule deserve to be champions. It’s the coach’s role to make sure they are mentally and physically prepared.

It is fine to disagree - but you cannot tell me that teams like UCF and their ilk will not benefit from playing lightweights through the season - being included in the finals -when teams from the SEC are brutalizing each other through the season
