Mentioned it earlier in the season but command and something off speed is something AD has got to fix

Solidly in as a 2 seed. But have a chance to host a regional. Just need a series win at Auburn and probably a couple wins in Hoover.

He has been there long enough to have been taught the off speed pitch.

He is only a sophomore correct ? If he never threw one in HS( prolly not needed) , it can take a bit to get the feel/command of it … especially the command needed for SEC level competition . Heck he can still be back end with two pitches but his command is horrible

I don’t know what he did in the offseason but it didn’t do much in terms of development.
I was expecting him to put on a few pounds and fill that frame in a little more.
He needs to get with whoever is working with Myers in the offseason because that dude is a different player this year vs 2023.

Always sad to wind up the home games for the season (unless we find our way to host a regional again….). If it is the last time we’re at the Joe until next year - what a way to go! Per Twitter experts - first series win against the tiggahs since 2016 and the first home series win since 2011.

Alabama baseball relied heavily on its pitching staff on Sunday, holding off LSU for the 4-3 series-clinching win at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the victory, the 25th-ranked Crimson Tide is now 32-19 overall and 12-15 in Southeastern Conference play.
Alabama jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings, plating three in the second and one in the third. The Tigers got on the board with a run in the fourth and rallied for two in the eighth but would get no closer for the 4-3 final. The Tigers' late offense was stalled by the relief duo of Tyler Fay and Braylon Myers. The pair combined for the final 2.0 scoreless frames with Myers picking up his third save of the season and second of the week.
Ben Hess (4-4) earned the win thanks to arguably his best start of the season. The junior allowed just one run on only three hits and three walks while striking out a career-high tying 10 across his career-best 6.2 innings of work. The loss went to Samuel Dutton (0-2).
From Head Coach Rob Vaughn
"The story of this game was Heater (Ben Hess). The way that he attacked, how he got deep in the game, and not only was his stuff really good, but he was extremely efficient out there today. He had great velocity, great tempo, threw a ton of strikes and just went out and set the tone for us. This was just a great job by our pitching staff of finding a way to hold a pretty dangerous offense to limited runs, and they gave our offense a chance, even when we weren't at our best."

Was chatting with some parents about the ongoing illness issues from the Mississippi State series and was told that the culprit was Listeria. Some players are still not fully recovered (including AD who did not travel to Troy on Tuesday). Players were still having fluids administered this week. Had to come home and read up on it - sounds like it was a nasty nasty case.
Read that Vaughn asked the SEC to postpone Saturday’s game after so many players spent the night in the ER and the SEC said too bad.

I retract my previous post about AD. It did cross my mind that he’s still not 100%.

I'm thrilled we beat LSU. Seems like forever ago the last time we won a series against them. On a side note, I went over to the Tiger Rant to see what they were saying about the games and holy crap! Each game had 90+ pages of comments. I think over the series we had maybe 2 pages of comments. They take baseball seriously over there

I don’t think AD was part of the food poisoning debacle that most others got. His started once they got back per my sources
