First, Petrino from UofL.
Now, Cal from UofK.
Not feeling good about this for the Hog fans.
Edit : Read my first post on the Cal thread from many years ago on the Kentucky Sports Forum

Cal does not care about
Multi year players
In state talent
Winning the SEC
Winning the NCAA
He just cares about getting future NBA talent

Getting a ton of talent to come and play for the hogs isn’t bad, at least in my eyes it isn’t

This was a massive hire, even if Cal just does his normal routine. We will always be relevant and in national news. Obviously willing to spend to win at basketball. Everyone keeps talking about "up and comers". That list was trash. This is a grand slam.

Damn, this really hurts your feelings doesn’t it. That’s another positive about this hire.

He wants to make history by taking 4 teams to the Final 4. He will do whatever it takes IMO.

That’s fine, I like watching former Hogs in the NBA.

You're missing the big picture.
Arkansas is finally taking basketball more seriously than they ever had before.
Even if Cal does ok here, Arkansas is making a statement that they will do whatever it takes to win.
For the the first time that I can remember, a basketball coach at Arkansas is going to make more money than the football coach. That wouldn't be allowed in the past.

Not really

I was living in Arkansas back when Eddie was there and it was plenty serious back then. Hogs in basketball goes back to the 30's and 40's tho most on here were not alive back then.

That is what I am trying to tell you, Cal cares less about winning than money and guys in the NBA. To me as a college fan it should be about the team winning Natty's, not getting 1 and done to the NBA.

You do realize, when built, BWA was an elite venue for college basketball, right.
Cal had talent out the arse and only 1 Natty to show for it, and that was more about "The Brow" being a throwback team player and not the modern "give me the rock" player. Without him, Cal would have ZERO Natty's at UK.
Cal is a terrible "in game" coach but will not let an assistant handle this part of the job based on ego. I really do not see this changing at Arkansas.
I would love to see the Hogs back to Eddie and Nolan level of competition, just seriously doubt Cal will be what you think he will. I could be wrong, but experience tells me he will not be the savior you think he will.

I except cal to coach 5 years at Arkansas and make the tournament every year minimum. Now it would be nice to win some SEC titles and make the final four during those 5 years too

He has said openly to the UK fans for years that he does not care about winning SEC titles. Not sure this will change at Arkansas.

Doesn't care but still does it all the time.

Does Kentucky hang Sec championship banners?

My goal is to see a team go into the tournament every year with a good chance. That requires excellent recruiting. Cal will meet or exceed my expectations where muss failed. I'm confident

Basketball was an afterthought when Eddie was hired and he built the foundation for what we would become. Nolan wasn’t a popular hire, in fact he was on the hot seat immediately but he panned out. Neither had near the track record cal has.
I don’t care for cal personally either but he’s a proven recruiter, which is desperately needed now, and with the right talent success is more likely.
Take your hurt feelings elsewhere.
