When is the last time Alabama beat Florida? This is looking like the best team in 10 years.

Bama won the SEC Championship in 2021 (Huntsville)
Bama last beat them in Tuscaloosa in 2017
Bama last won in Gainesville in 2010

Great job by the ladies. Ashley Johnston is turning out be another killer hire by Byrne.

They've just about all been at least above average to great.

I think his only real stinker was the first Volleyball coach hire, whose mess the new hire is still trying to dig out of.

I think Bill Battle's only remaining hires are Soccer coach Wes Hart and WBB's Kristy Curry.

Took my youngest to the meet. First time ever at a gymnastics event. That was great. The side show by the team as they are on the floor exercise was pretty cool. UF had two incidents: one girl stopped on the uneven bars and restarted and the last girl of the event went ob on the floor. Bama was very consistent

One question for the knowledgeable... Does the home team pick the rotation? I would think finishing on the beam woould not be preferred .. But again Bama handled their business and took it to the gators. But good on the gators. It was a loud fun crowd

BREAKING: Lilly Hudson just scored a 10.0 on vault!!

She becomes the first Alabama gymnast to score a perfect 10 on vault since Lauren Beers in 2016. Hudson’s vault followed LaCoursiere’s 9.725

That 10 was so cool...UF had a vault that went 10.0 and 9.95 from the judges

Not sure if it’s a rule, but every meet I’ve ever been to the rotation is
Home: Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor
Visitors: Bars, Vault, Floor, Beam

Very impressive for Bama to pull off the W finishing on beam with UF on floor. Glad you were able to see it in person.

Hope y’all had a great time at your first meet. This is a great question. “Olympic Order” is given to home team on dual meet - Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor. Away team - Bars, Vault, Floor, Beam. Obvious advantage to home team as floor typically brings home energy and scores can reflect that, beam being the hardest mental event is tough to end on.

The only time a team gets to pick their rotation is the highest seeded (based on national ranking) team at SEC Championships. Then it goes to next highest ranked team to pick.

Lilly Hudson Strikes Perfection, No. 6 Alabama Remains Unbeaten with 197.575-197.425 Victory over No. 8 Florida

The Crimson Tide became the first team since 2019 to beat Florida inside the Exactech Arena, effectively snapping a 20 home-meet win streak for the Gators

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 6 Alabama gymnastics program remained unbeaten on the season as the Crimson Tide (5-0-1, 2-0-1 SEC) earned a hard-fought 197.575-197.425 victory Saturday against the No. 8 Florida Gators (4-1-0, 1-1-0 SEC). The highlight of the night came from Lilly Hudson who scored a Perfect 10 on the vault, helping Alabama better its team score for a third-straight meet.

With the dual meet victory tonight, the Crimson Tide became the first team since 2019 to beat the Gators inside the Exactech Arena, effectivey snapping a 20 home-meet win streak for Florida.

The Tide got off to an early lead with the uneven bars lineup. Super-senior duo Makarri Doggette and Luisa Blanco highlighted the event, closing the first rotation with back-to-back 9.925 scores.

On Alabama's second rotation, and a week after coming up clutch for the Tide, Lilly Hudson stepped up in the middle of the UA vault lineup and posted a perfect 10.000. It's the team's first Perfect 10 of the season and the second of Hudson's career. Blanco (9.950) and Gabby Gladieux (9.850) added season-high scores of their own to help push UA to a season-high 49.400 rotation score.

Entering the final rotation in a back-and-forth battle towards the end of the meet, Blanco secured Alabama the victory with a season-high 9.950.

Head Coach Ashley Johnston Said
"I'm so proud of the team tonight. This was a really important meet for us because it's easy to get to a meet like this and try to be perfect, and I'm really proud of the way that the team focused on just making progress. Progress over perfection. We've worked really hard on our culture and trusting each other and not letting one little mistake affect the approach of the next person up. I felt like the team really settled into that tonight. Even if there wasn't a perfect performance (by an athlete), they didn't let it get the best of them. They continue to just trust their average, where they weren't trying harder. They weren't trying to do anything different. They just trusted their preparation and executed at a really high level."

Watched the match on TV for probably the first time... That was really exciting. My wife keeps saying that I'd like it and I did. Love the energy of the team.

Admittedly I don’t follow the swim & dive teams as much as I should. I’m a track guy and Waters has done a really good job. He was a Mal Moore hire from Texas A&M in 2011. The track and cross country teams are regularly ranked top 10 or close.

The men won an SEC indoor championship in 2018. Bama was named national track and cross country Program of the Year by the track coaches association and Waters was named SEC Coach of the Year. Best finish at the NCAA national championship was 4th, also in 2018. They finished 8th in 2023.

Right now, Florida is the class of D1 T&F in the SEC. They’ve won five NCs since 2011 and won back-to-back in 2022 and 2023. We need to get over the top and win it all. There’s no good reason Bama’s swim & dive teams can’t be competitive as well.

ETA: Apologies for hijacking and derailing the gymnastics thread.

The FL gym team looked more like an Asian team. I guess they have a contact from the other side of the ocean.

We bought season tickets this year. Fun event and I like that it’s an hour and a half on the dot. Helpful when making dinner plans or whatever.

Luisa Blanco Earns Second SEC Gymnast of the Week Honor of Season

For the second time this season, the super senior recorded the highest all-around score of the week by any SEC gymnast (39.700), helping lead the Crimson Tide to its 197.575-197.425 victory over then-No. 8 Florida

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second time this season, Alabama gymnast Luisa Blanco was named the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Blanco recorded three consecutive scores of 9.925-or-higher (vault, uneven bars, balance beam) in the Crimson Tide's road win against No. 8 Florida. The super senior claimed a pair of event titles at Exactech Arena (UB – 9.925; BB – 9.950), and also earned the highest all-around score (39.700) to lead the SEC for the second time this season. As Alabama's anchor on the balance beam, Blanco calmly posted a meet-clinching, season-high 9.95 to push the Crimson Tide to yet another season-high team score, 197.575, handing Florida its first loss at home since 2019 ending a streak that lasted for 20 consecutive meets.

The No. 6 Alabama gymnastics program welcomes the No. 3 Kentucky Wildcats in Coleman Coliseum Friday night at 7:30 p.m. CT. The fourth top-10 matchup in as many weeks for the Tide will be broadcast live on SEC Network. Individual meet tickets, and season tickets, are available now on RollTide.com or through the Alabama Ticket Office.
