Gabby Gladieux Named SEC Specialist of the Week

The sophomore gymnast tied for the nation’s highest individual score (9.975) on floor to help lead the Crimson Tide to its 197.125 season-opening victory

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama gymnast Gabby Gladieux was named the Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Hailing from Greensboro, N.C., Gladieux tied for the nation's highest individual score to finish first on floor with a career-high 9.975 at the Super 16 Gymnastics Championships in Las Vegas. The sophomore was the only gymnast in a session with No. 5 UCLA, No. 7 Cal and No. 17Auburn to earn at least one 10 on a routine.

The No. 4 Alabama gymnastics program welcomes the No. 3 Missouri Tigers for its 2024 home opener in Coleman Coliseum Friday night at 6 p.m. CT. The top-five matchup will be broadcast on SEC Network. Individual meet tickets, and season tickets, are available now on RollTide.com or through the Alabama Ticket Office.

If this team ever puts it all together it could be a special season. Topped 197 for the second time and still left a lot on the matt

Luisa Blanco Named SEC Co-Gymnast of the Week

The super senior recorded the highest all-around score of any SEC gymnast in week two (39.675) to help lead the Crimson Tide to its 197.225 victory over then-No. 3 Missouri

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama gymnast Luisa Blanco was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Blanco recorded three-consecutive scores of 9.925-or-higher (uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise) – the same events that featured season-high team rotation scores for then-No. 4 Alabama. The super senior recorded the highest all-around score of any SEC gymnast in week two (39.675) to help lead the Crimson Tide to its 197.225 victory over then-No. 3 Missouri.

The second top-five matchup in as many weeks for the Tide will be broadcast live on SEC Network. Fun Fact

Score-wise, this is the highest 2 meet start in Alabama Gymnastics history.

Even during Sarah Patterson, we never scored 2 straight 197s to kick off the year.
