Huh. I guess they do. For some reason I feel like I've seen a lot more home plate collisions than first base.

Seems like it gives the defense an advantage.

A player covering first has less distance to travel now and throwing distances are shorter.

No, Thats the normal base. It hasnt moved. The distances for defenses are exactly the same. The green one is the new one and it is for the runner.

An out can only be made on a caught ball. End of discussion.

This will solve a lot of confusion with throws that hit runners. It's never made sense that you have to run to the right of the line when the entire base is on the left side of the line
