I think you are way too fixated on the pb&j aspect of this issue. It would pertain to all peanut containing products. The pb&j is just the item that the OP had containing peanuts....

Banning all kids from food items containing peanut products because there is potentially one that can be harmed by it is a stupid way of dealing with the situation. Identify the kid(s) that would be impacted by such a thing ahead of time and make accommodations for them accordingly. I'm curious ...
