Purdue is a better analogy to Auburn than is Mich St....

Koivun said in an interview he was looking forward to his further improvement with the team next year. So as of yesterday he is planning to return to AU next year and he believes the team should be even better next year....

Congratulations! Annapolis will also be a nice place to visit your son. Lovely town. Who provided the Congressional appointment?...

I think KD would be a good fit for Grand Canyon U., at least the chaotic way they played against Bama....

re: Does Spokane love the state of Alabama?
Posted by EssexTiger on 3/18/24 at 8:08 am
Too bad we could not have Samford share a ride with us, UA, and UAB out to Spokane to cut down on our charter cost for the travel. The committee must have been reminded of trying to place Samford at a reduced mileage site, which they clearly ignored for the rest of the Alabama teams in the tournamen...
re: Here is your Men's Bracket...

It is curious that AU as the 15 overall seed (3rd rated in the 4 seed line) is placed in the bracket with UCONN, the top rated 1 seed, whereas UA as the weakest seed (16 overall seed) in the 4 seed line is placed with UNC, the 4th seeded (weakest) team in the top bracket. This peculiar bracketing di...
re: NCAA committee chair said that travel distance determined where 1-4 seeds play
Posted by EssexTiger on 3/17/24 at 7:39 pm
The Committee must be encouraging AU, UA, and UAB to share a ride out to Spokane to save travel costs rather than base their travel on mileage from home to nearest placement site. Curious how they ship AU and UAB as East Region teams as far as possible from the East Region to play their first round ...

Refs let the gals play, especially Reese and Cardosa. If AU men had played that game, everyone would have been fouled out in the first quarter....
re: Can anyone explain Alabama fans’ infatuation with using French heritage as an insult?

I was informed by a French Canadian friend that they mostly sat out WW2. That may be where some of this disdain comes from....
re: I did the Caitlin Clark/Pistol Pete math
Posted by EssexTiger on 3/1/24 at 9:22 am
I saw Pete play in person at Auburn as a freshman. The team warmups would have made the Globetrotters proud. As I recall, the crowd dwindled after the freshman game, with substantially fewer in attendance for the varsity game. Pete was the real deal and a magnate for fans to see him play....

Bryant's death and adoration in 1983 were far from silly. I dare say his Sunday afternoon postgame Coke and Golden Flake show was likely the most watched event of the week in Alabama in the 1960's (which was followed by Shug Jordan's Auburn Southern Bell-sponsored postgame show). I have no doubt tha...
re: Is Kentucky southern?

Maryland did not secede because Lincoln sent in the Union troops to arrest the legislature before they could vote to secede. Eastern shore of Maryland strongly leaned toward secession. Take a look at the state song, Maryland My Maryland, which has a verse about Yankee scum....

I wonder why if Bear was having chest pains on Jan 25 and the docs were worried about the high likelihood of him having a massive heart attack at Druid City Hospital, his physician did not immediately send him to UAB. The latter would have been much better equipped to have managed him.
As an asid...

More to laugh about as Reece trying to draw a comparison between Bruce Pearl's BBQ incident at UT and Harbaugh's unrelated problems at Mich. Only a Bammer would conjure up that comparison....
re: That Missouri Cotton Bowl win was perfection!
Posted by EssexTiger on 12/30/23 at 9:18 am
This is my favorite Mizzou win other than the 1975 beating of Alabama in Birmingham by QB Steve Pisarkiawicz who led a Mizzou team that would finish the season with a 6-5 record to a 20-7 win. It was the start of a promising season that fizzled with an unimpressive loss to Kansas....

An Auburn education is in demand based on 2023 application numbers for the Freshman class, which Auburn reported as 48,000, with 20,000 early acceptance admissions, yielding a Freshman class of 7271 per the Institutional Research Office. The early acceptance group had an average ACT score of 28.2 an...
