They will still be good…they have lots of talent.

I just don't see it happening again like that.

The beauty of recruiting top talent across the roster is that it doesn’t have to happen exactly like that. It can happen in a lot of different ways.

Alabama won titles with rosters with very different distributions of talent. What they had in common was a great coach and that they were more talented than all their opponents. There is no reason to think UGA won’t be able to win with different roster profiles as well. UGA was already very much competitive (and went to OT in a NC game) well before Bennett, Bowers, or McConkey were involved, and that was with Nick Saban still involved in the sport.

Oh so their top 5 nationally ranked offenses didn't contribute either? Gtfo. That's what made them so elite was being so dominant on each side. One doesn't work alone without the other.

Your argument wasn’t didn’t “contribute” — you stated the main reason they won 2 championships were 3 players on offense. You’re now changing your statement bc you realize how utterly moronic it is.

Way to move the goal posts constantly. As is the Tennesse way.

Yeah... we'll see. If Kirby can keep winning like that again then UGA basically hit the powerball lotto, coaching hiring odds wise. And I'm well aware of how good UGA's defense is btw. Was there in person in 2022 in athens and last year in Knoxville.

Zero national championships without the fab three combo of QB stetson, Bowers and Mchonkey and i expect that to continue. Those three individuals are just rare clutch winners period.

Pick one opinion and stick with it or just admit that you are what everyone knows, a moron.

Haven't moved any goal posts. UGA still had a top 10 defense last year as well.

If Stetson was still at QB last year, they beat Bama and win a third title imo.

Am expecting a bigger drop off this year now with the other two gone as well.

To avoid the beat down that you are suggesting, I guess that we should just go ahead and forfeit the game.

So UGA might only beat UT by 20 this year? I mean the gap between UGA and most conference teams is pretty huge.

That may be true if we have 25 year old Stetson Bennett in 2023.

Carson Beck is now 21 years old. And there is a high likelihood that 21 year old Beck is better than 23, 24, and 25 year old Bennett.

QBs mature. I fully expect Carson to improve on his 2 weaknesses in 2024 just like Bennett improved on his weaknesses in 2022.

But finding very low ranked 2 star and 3 star gems like Stetson and Mchonkey that turn into your best players and leaders is the part I'm talking about that's hard to do on loaded rosters.

It seems that you're making a very poor and very tired argument. Kirby & Co. have been as good as it gets at developing talent and preparing players for the NFL, and they recruit to build a specific culture at UGA. I would argue that it's easier on a loaded roster as well - you're competing with the very best at practice, instead of a bunch of 2 stars.

The thing that held UGA back in 18-20 was coaching - green mistakes from a young head coach, as well as stubborn reliance on an outdated offensive philosophy. The thing that may get them (as it did Saban off & on) will also be coaching - see James Coley, 2019.

There is a fresh crop of talented players every year. Conversely, the pool of talented, well connected coaches is teeny tiny and leads to the bidding wars we've seen over the last 20 years. Call me when Glen Schumann leaves, until then we're in as good of shape as anyone in CFB.

My opinion is the same you are just a fricking dumbass, nut surprising because you are a Florida fan.

Those three are generational type of talents period because they also make everyone else around them better and the entire team feeds off that confidence and leadership.

But since you feel the need to chime in, do Florida fans ever care about football anymore? Serious question.

Why are there more fire sunbelt billy fans. I swear you guys have demoted yourself to Kentucky status recently as fans.

And before you boast about you record against Tennessee yeah you've had our number for a while but that's changing this year and none of that changes the fact that your program is a dumpster fire and your fans don't even seem to really care.

Tennessee fans never gave up during our darkest hours so sit down you little pansy arse bitch.

Have fun in Knoxville this year.

Well, McConkey was a great WR, but I don't think I would call him a 'generational type' talent. We have some pretty talented WRs on this team.

Bennett was great and has firmly established himself as a UGA legend, but gees dude....in Beck's FIRST season as a starter he threw for nearly 4000 yds, 24 TDs to just 6 Ints. Any reason to think he won't improve on even those gaudy numbers in year two?

Bowers WAS a generational talent, and he'll be hard to replace, but he missed a few games this season with surgery and we didn't miss a beat. We have some former HS All-American TEs waiting in the wings. Delp filled in for him admirally.

So, in summary...I think we're gonna make another run at the natty.

According to Kirby, the Georgia WR room has currently passed the expectations he had coming out of spring ball.

But one of the players recently told me that the running game will be the bread and butter of the 2024 offense. Physicality is the priority.

NIL sponsor

I also live in Athens so I can attend some of the collective sponsored events.

My favorite new freshman players are Malachi Toliver and Nitro Tuttle.

That type of consistently elite coach only comes around once every half a millennium if that in this sport.

How do you define “consistently elite”?
