I grew up in Matthews, a small, unincorporated community off of Old Pike Road about 20 min outside of the Montgomery, and if you like country living, its great out there. I absolutely did not appreciate it enough growing up, but would be in heaven there now as an adult.
Marler road is nice and pretty with little subdivisions as well.
It was pretty rural back then, and it seems like development has really crept in to the pike road/old pike road area, but I am sure its still pretty nice.
Wetumpka is nice too with some affordable houses. Same with Prattville and Millbrook.
