They seriously underestimated how quickly the novelty of USC/UCLA/UW/UO will wear off. Those teams simply don't pull the viewers everyone seems to think they do.

Conferences live and die with their bottom 10-30%: South Carolina pulls 80k a game. What does Rutgers pull?
