Been telling y'all. Saban had a plan before this ever went down. Don't believe the trolls that have no idea.

He wanted a quick exit without the hooplah and scrutiny, and a successor to leave Bama in good hands
..without it looking like he's pulling the strings

Looks like he pulled it off. No extended turmoil at Bama. New coach already in place in less 2 days, attention on him, Saban disappears into the sunset

That wily old bastard

But but but he has an advising position with an office in BDS.

Save us, Coarch Sabah.

It would be weird if he didn't. Imagine just cutting ties after being the living GOAT for nearly two decades

He's playing the part of Fulmer in the Fulmer-Pruitt Strategy.

Well, which one is it? Is he having no involvement riding off into the sunset? Or is he sticking around aa an advisor?

Convince me.

An LSU fan bringing up defense is pretty funny.

Riding into the sunset as far as avoiding attention

The advisory position is basically ceremonial. This is par for the course when a long time legend retires. It's part of a retirement package and show of honor and gratitude

He's Nick Saban. Attention follows him.

Greg Byrne is awesome. Loved when he was our AD at MSU.

Well he's going to have to step up his defensive schemes if he is going to remain "caliber" in the SEC. A few fun facts about the Huskies defense this year:

quote:
Washington Huskies defense 2023: 396.9 total yards per game allowed (76th in FBS), 5.4 yards per play allowed (59th), 40.11% opponents’ third-down conversion rate (76th), 1.4 takeaways per game (62nd)

That is not caliber defense in the SEC.

No, but it is better than anything in the PAC-12.

Y'all have to stop comparing what he was able to do with UDub and west coast athletes. You need to wait, he now has the keys to an SEC Lambo. He's also been a success at every school, at every level, in college football. I think he might be very successful at Bama.

Talent matters. If you think it doesnt, explain how the Husky D was rated higher than Dave Aranda's at Baylor..

Ill hang up and listen

GREAT! Sounds like you lsu fans should stop obsessing over it, but you won't. Just like lsu fans should be over Saban dumping you 20 years ago, but you're not.

I’m guessing you haven’t noticed college football has changed these days.

Wait a month and half your team will get paid to portal out by someone else.

As for his caliber, we’ll have to see, but he’s won at every level he’s been at, and just played for the title beating teams to get there with a better roster than he had. It’s going to be interesting to see how he handles having the best talent pretty much every game.

My gut tells me Sexton had things greased up and ready to go lol.

I agree. A simple AD phone call to Sexton is like a one stop coaching for hire shop. Who ya got that is willing to move? Not super hard.
