I don't know about all that. I always thought that we would have been 9-2 had we played Ole Miss that year.

I think we had a good argument to be included. But there's no way we would have beat Bama on the playoffs.

I agree that we wouldn't have won it all. But I also don't think OM beats us. We would have run all over them and played keep away from that offense.

Notre Dame didn't deserve it over us because their only win was because of covid so Lawrence had to sit out. Complete nonsense.

I agree, he handled the Texas/OU situation poorly.

I’ve said this to many of my friends. 2020 is the offense/team Jimbo chased after his whole career at A&M. Executed well, played great defense and when needed to we would just run the ball and bully teams down the stretch. He could never recreate that team again and I think that was part of his downfall. Also the game just evolved into a more high scoring scheme and Jimbo never evolved with it

Seen somewhere that ERob is being retained by Elko which will hopefully keep a total gut via the portal. Hoping the OC announcement comes within the few days to give some momentum going into the early signing day. Would really want either Will Stein or Kirby Moore but no idea who is actually in the mix.

I know Elko mentioned in his press conference one of his priorities was retaining ERob but I haven’t seen anything finalized. Would love to see that news drop today, with Elko as the head man I wouldn’t mind seeing ERob at DC

E-Rob has already committed to coaching the team through the bowl. He's probably using whatever leverage he has to get even more money and titles. He already makes 1.1 M per football scoop.

Should we expect the Coordinatir news be dropped after the bowl game? Since the current staff is coaching through the bowl

Hell if I know. I would think we'd want to get them here asap to keep guys from transferring and getting recruits to sign with us in Dec. From my understanding the new coaches would not be involved with the bowl practices and bowl game. That would be whoever hasn't left for a new job from the previous staff along with GAs.

I was happy with the Elko hire but after sitting on it for a day or two and listening to his press conference and introduction in even more happy. Idk why it took us this long to make the decision

Luicci says he is hearing E Rob will get at least 1.5 yr if he stays in his current role

I’d imagine if Elko makes him DC he’s going to get at least 2 mm

We really need an announcement in the next couple of days from E rob that says
“I have accepted Ellis offer to stay and signed a ___ year contract extension with A&M”

Same for Petrino or a new OC, I think E Rob needs to be secured THIS week and the OC needs to be announced in the next 2 weeks at the latest

I have no issue with Ross, I think he was in a real lose lose situation with that extension. If he doesn’t extend him and basically give Jimbo everything he wanted and he walks to LSU Ross is out of a job and universally hated. Unfortunately the worst case scenario happened and Jimbo blew it here.

I agree with this 100%, if LSU really was pursuing him it puts Bjork in a no win spot, regardless of if you like him or not as an AD. Several people have said LSU was serious, many LSU insiders deny it, we probably never will know the whole truth.

But on one of the recent TexAgs radio shows, Liucci said he didn’t think it was Jimbo/Sexton pushing that hard for the contract extension, just upping the base salary. If that’s true (combined with Sharp’s infamous “we did 10 years only because he wouldn’t agree to 15”) then Bjork and the entire AD department should’ve been let go years ago.

quote:

My issue with Ross is that he embarrassed us when Texas joined the SEC. The dude got caught flat footed and his responses just made us look like we were helpless. Regardless, I never truly liked how he left Ole Miss. He allowed the NCAA to come in and gut the program. Then he hired Matt Luke before we gave him a life raft.

I’ve never been much of a Bjork fan and this nails it. All the crap Freeze was doing at Ole Miss, you can’t tell me he didn’t know about it.

I definitely think Jimbo was egging it on. I remember a press conference where I think Olin asked him about if he had been communicating with Woodward and Jimbo danced all around answering that question kind of stirring the pot. He was tryna get that pay.

I would’ve thought so too, Liucci’s comment just really stood out to me that he doesn’t think they pushed much for the extension. Maybe (probably?) he’s wrong as why would we have done the big extension if it wasn’t a priority for jimbo or sexton? You can always extend someone at any time, bump him to the 9.5 (keeping in mind that’s really not a super high number with the way many SEC coaches are paid nowadays) and be done.

Buyout with just the higher pay and no extension would’ve been what this year, ~38 mil? Still the largest in history but more manageable than the 77 we ended up with.

Can't believe Bjork is still employed. Someone lying about the Stoops fiasco.
