What's your opinion of Scott as a football play-by-play radio announcer?

Scott Howard seems like a genuinely good guy and definitely loves Georgia, but his style for announcing football games on the radio is pretty shitty and frustrating to have to listen to.

Not saying that I could do a better job than Scott, because I know I couldn't. That shite would be really hard. Am saying that Scott needs to do a way better job of spitting out how many yards the plays get. The yardage of the play is always the last thing he gives on the radio, following the type of play, the name of the ball carrier, the name of the tackler for the other team, where both the ball carrier and tackler grew up, and his opinion of the play.

"Toss to Edwards. Edwards doesn't have a whole lot of daylight but makes the most of it. Still churning those legs. Edwards for Moultrie Georgia. Tackle for the Sky Hawks made by Quontravious Wright. Wright from Cleveland, Tennessee. Nice hole opened up for a moment that time by Ratledge. Dawgs trying to drive before halftime before getting the ball back to open the second half. A gain of 3."

It sounds like he tries too hard, especially with that gravel/growl thing he does when he gets excited.

Not a fan. Corny, too loud, and corny.

Ben Ingram or Jeff Dantzler would be better

Man, preach it. It's been about a decade since I've had to regularly listen to Scott on the radio calls, but this used to drive me absolutely crazy. It's kind of crazy he hasn't improved on this at this point.

Ben Ingram's call of the Peach Bowl comeback

Scott Howard calls the missed FG

Ingram's is better and it is not even remotely close. It would have driven me nuts listening to Howard live because you don't actually know if it went through or not for about 20 seconds.

Ingram is a pro. If he could make the scheduling work with the Braves, UGA should write him a blank check to replace Scott.

I won a WSB radio contest once and got to do play by play for two innings of an Atlanta Braves game back in the early '90s. Not for real but simulated.
My soon to be ex tossed the video cassette of me in the simulated press box when I told her I was filing for divorce.

To each their own and there are no right or wrong answers, but Ben Ingram sounds like a corny FM morning DJ. I don't really go out of my way to listen to the Braves games when I'm in the car because he and Joe both sound like corny midwesterners. Not saying the Braves need some raging rednecks broadcasting the games, but the accents broadcasting the games don't match the accents in the local radio ads I hear on Braves radio lol.

I think Scott Howard is great. Yall obviously haven't listened to other local radio broadcasts for other teams, based on your criticism of Howard.

^^^I think that Scott is great with big calls and great to listen to on Youtube highlights. It's the fact that he won't spit out the result of the play until the next play is about to be run.

I find this to be untrue, and at best, exaggerated.

1) I grew up listening to him calling basketball and I think that pace fits far better for him. Lukewarm on him for football.

2) living in AL, whenever i drive from Athens back home and lose our postgame coverage ill sometimes tune in to bamas game. Their guy, I think his name is something Stewart, does a bit better job than scott imo. It's just all business, he's not attempting to go down in local lore with a sound byte for the ages like mcconkey on his donkey or noooohohoho goohohohohohohoooohohooooddd.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. I though Scott's call was better.

I do love Ben on the Braves broadcasts.

I like Scott but but those are hard to listen to. I always thought Jeff Dantzler would have made a better color guy instead of Zier.

This is why I don't look up pictures of radio people. I just looked up Ben, and he's a millineal ball shaving media cvnt. His voice is like a 65 year old man but he looks like that asshat from SEC Network, Marty. From Marty and McGee.

The braves are now ruined for me.

Holy shite! I just looked up Ben Ingram. I just assumed he was 65 and tubby and bald. For a 35 year old dude who grew up in Mississippi to speak like a 65 year old dude from the midwest, there have to be some mental and emotional issues happening there lol.

Again, this is why I never look up pics of radio people. It always, always, always disappoints. That's why they are in radio, not TV.

Scott Howard has been with the Bulldog network for a long time. I think probably early 90's. I doubt he leaves until he is retired and obviously has a great standing within the Bulldog radio team. I'm guessing he is early 60's so probably be around for at least another 10 years. I think he's ok and he had tough shoes to fill after Munson. I had heard Dantzler was trying to push for the job when Munson started taking games off, as well as Buck Belue. I think Dantzler had a DUI long ago in that kind of put him in the dog house and perpetually stuck him with the post-game radio show. I think Zeier is a great color guy and I think he did it with Munson.
