What's this scuttlebutt about FSU boycotting the Orange Bowl?

It sounds like a bunch of posturing as I can't imagine either team wanting to pass on the payday or trip/practice for the players.
I'm not really sure what to think about it. If either team wins, they validate the committee's decision to omit the other one and frankly, we have a much better chance of crushing these guys (if everyone plays) than they do us with their backup QB. FSU has a chance to silence the naysayers but it'll be tough sledding. UGA has nothing to gain from beating up on FSU without their QB...and do we expect this team to show up with their hair on fire to play FSU? FSU is the only team with a chance to play themselves into the #1 spot in either the AP or Coaches poll as a protest vote.
Rather than boycott, if both teams truly wanted to make a statement I could see them make playing totally optional for the players with an emphasis of letting the backups and seniors that aren't going to the NFL getting a chance to play. Get paid and turn it into a big exhibition for the non-starting seniors and guys vying for next year.

Odd scenario for both programs regarding this game.
It seems like everyone is just waiting to get to the 12 team playoff and forget this year now
Also, the bowl games will be even more meaningless if you don't qualify for one of the 12 spots
It's playoffs or bust going forward

Facebook/social media is generally the last place on earth to get actual information.
Nobody is boycotting the bowl game.

It is all internet stuff coming from both teams cancelling the press conference. Did CKS give an explanation?

both coaches had already done one press conference like 2 days before the canceled one. It was canceled due to travel/recruiting conflicts.
One canceled press conference out of what will likely be dozens leading up to the game doesn't mean the teams are going to refuse to play in it lol

Internet rumors feeding themselves methinks. Boycotting a bowl game because you got left out of the playoff would probably be an all time blow up in your face move.

I couldn't even imagine the hell the powers that be would unleash upon FSU if they fricked around and tried that.
You're gonna frick them out of their money from the Orange Bowl? You thought they had an axe to grind with you before, well now they really have a reason to not like you anymore. Get ready to get bent over the barrel while they cook up an all-timer punishment.

Yea...that's some dumb shite fans are posting.
They are moving to 12 teams next year, so what would be the point of pissing em off...
If they had no plans to move to 12, I could see some support behind it (but still don't think they would do it)

Yah, I'm sure both teams will trot enough players out even if a bunch of walk-on and practice squad team members make up the teams. There is just too much money at stake to boycott a bowl game. Oranges to apples, but college teams decline invites to the NIT all the time.

We should just band together with the FSU fans and start calling this game the national championship.

That’s not apples to oranges, that’s jackfruit to watermeal. There’s hardly any money behind the NIT. In fact, teams might actually lose money with travel and such. Also, I believe most teams that decline, are ones that fired their HC
