I am not a big fan of Tony Ball. Id prefer a guy like Jay Norvell to be our guy but i know Richt wont make that change at this point.

I feel OK about it. The football program seems to be evolving very slowly so I see it as status quo until proven otherwise. The main issue is can Pruitt recruit at a higher level and build a championship class defense. The offense should continue to be solid running basically Richt's pro-style offense with some spread variations mixed in.

My point about FSU's 1993 offense had nothing to do with our current production- which is solid by any definition. Just that CMR didn't bring in an apprentice. He brought in someone very much his peer and might see ways to attack defenses that we haven't seen in 14 yrs because we've operated in a CMR offensive vacuum. Anyone who thinks that Shotty will simply learn CMR's playbook and not add wrinkles are help gameplan has rocks in they head. We needed a something to re-energize and I think our current staff will do just that.

Well, the biggest knock on schotty is that he doesn't do great X's and os so I doubt you'll see to much of a difference.

I think Schottenheimer will make changes. He brings a lot to the table and CMR wouldn't have hired him if he wanted business as usual. I'm looking forward to watching him work with our talent.

As for the x's and o's, I think he'll do fine if he has a quarterback that can perform. From what I've read, that wasn't always the case in the NFL. He just needs to adapt to the fact that college players have a lot less time to learn than pros. The plus side is that college defenses are a lot easier to fool.

Bobo added plenty of wrinkles over the years. Our offense was very different from 2008 to 2013. I think the Mark Richt offensive vacuum idea is greatly overplayed by people who want change just for the sake of it.

All they said in their press conference was they aimed for for it to be business as usual. Sure, some things will be different but the o isn't schotty's or bobo's. It's richt's. He has always been willing to try new stuff, but schotty won't be asked to reinvent the wheel. If he was, we wouldn't have retained the same o coaches.

Guess we'll have to disagree. About everything Bobo learned he learned from Richt. We're bringing in a guy who will probably teach Richt a few things. That is OK with me. I'm not advocating "change for the sake of change". But we were stuck in neutral imo- and something had to change. If Shotty gets us over the hump I think we'll all be happy.

I'm not saying we'll reinvent the wheel. But I do think that Schottenheimer will add some new looks, new plays, new ways to attack a defensive scheme. He'll probably want to change the blocking assignments to some extent. It'll still be similar in many respects, but for those of who have been watching the last 14 years, my guess is there will be recognizeable changes.

That's my guess anyway. If CMR intended to do everything the same, I think he would have hired a more malleable candidate to teach his system, like the guy from Stanford. Schottenheimer will use CMR's system but is more likely to suggest meaningful changes.

Didn't feel like we were getting any closer to the MNC to me. I gave up seeing a MNC in my lifetime a few years ago. Now I believe!!

And that had nothing to do with the offense.

I like stats, they make me feel good. But I like championships better and we aren't sniffing those. This is by no means a slam on our offense and I hated to see Bobo go. But we had replace the OC and I feel very good about who we got and hope he can build on a very solid foundation. The question was "What do you think about the staff?" I said I liked the new blood. Can only help imo.

Is greygatch having cancer or suicidal thoughts or something?

I enjoy greygatch.

Play calling was big problem vs SC.

Offense was absent vs UF.

I don't have the answers for what went wrong vs Tech.

But curing those ills would have us sniffing a championship.

In our 3 losses offense was absolutely part of the problem. 24 vs Tech was not good (GSU scored 38 I think). 20 vs FU won't cut it most years. And 35 against a piss poor SCU team with critical mistakes peppered in. Hit our average in those games and we're shining rings. But we didn't...cause that's how averages work.

But heck, maybe you're right. It would be impossible to improve our offense and if it were possible, Shotty is a $hitty choice to try it.
