WHy do they make players on the sidelines wear those bib things?

Also: I like how there isn't a single fricking commercial the entire 45 minute half! I'll give them that, for sure.

I'm assuming so they won't be confused for active players when they get up and jog or stretch to stay loose.

Yeah that's very nice. It changes a little bit with the extra time now, but one thing nice about the draws was you knew exactly how long the game was going to take before it started. So if you wanted to watch a game, you could make plans for 2 hours later and not have to stress about it pushing it close and missing the end.

I saw some referee gave a player on the bench a yellow card today. Is this normal? Everyone on the bench stood up and got pissed, but it wasn't my tv and there was no volume, so i was lost. But everyone on the bench was wearing the same brown "FIFA" bib over their jersey. And every tinme a player joined them, they were handed a bib..and they put it on real fast.....

ALso: What is the clear satellite dish the person holds up on the sideline with numbers on one side in green, and on the other side red?

Thanks for your help.

I was traveling most of the afternoon so I didn't see what you're referring to. It's not common for bench players to get booked from what I've seen. I mainly watch big international tournaments though so it might be worth asking someone who watches more regularly.

That's to signal a substitution. The red number is the player coming off and the green number is the player taking his place. You get 3 subs a game. He also will display the added time at the end of the halves on the same board.

Did you ever see that movie "Victory" about soccer with Sylvester Stallone and Pele.....where they're POWs in a german prison camp?

They're suppose to be a shite team of prisoner misfits that the National team will beat easily, but.........in The End, they end up winning and the crowd rallies around them....and storms the field.....helping them escape to Freedom.

Maybe, these FIFA bibs are to prevent that from happening should any commie soccer player try to defect. I don't know.

Yeah that was crazy. Was hoping for Costa Rica to hold on. They're the underdog story of the tournament so far and Greece is so boring.

I don't know if you were watching earlier but the Netherlands had a 88 minute goal to tie Mexico and then got a penalty in stoppage time at the end of the second half to win.

Already getting nervous for the USA game Tuesday...these last couple of games haven't compared to anything besides Georgia football when it comes to my stress level.

In their defense, the whole world is kind of struggling to figure out what to do with Iran.....
