Nothing special. Just that the worldwide plague, known as the impotent weasel busybodies who gravitate toward enforcing rules....have ruined yet another event.

It's what busybodies do.

He addressed a putt, but didn't ground his putter, however, the ball moved backwards.

They will rule AFTER the round whether he "caused" it to move...which he clearly didn't.

Ok.....so I play golf about 4 times a year and watch the majors when I can, so I fully admit I DON'T know the intricate rules of golf.

But wtf is this about? First of all, why does it matter if your putter grounds or not. Next, why would the powers that be rule on this after the round? I'm so confused.

The fact he hadn't set his putter down, means it's less likely his actions caused the ball to move.

As to the ruling after the round....who the frick knows. Probably so they can keep people watching longer and they get to control the situation.

If DJ wins, it's fitting that he did so by overcoming rulemonger controversy. After what happened with bunker deal at PGA years ago.

Let's go mf'er!!!!

Good for him.

Fox completely blows, but that was drama.

I hope game 7 later is half of what that was.

Fox at least has the shot tracker on nearly every shot. I like that. I cant see the ball otherwise.

I think it should be like the NFL. If you don't have conclusive evidence on replay, it's not a penalty. That was bullshite.

This wouldn't have been an issue in any other tournament. Typical usga yankee gimpery.

Golf is a gentleman s sport partly because we police ourselves. You can't have it both ways with Chrystal ball mind readers interpreting minuscule shite from cameras.

Total joke. Just like the us open.

It looked like he did ground his club behind the ball. That being said a penalty for a 10th of a rotation is kind of BS...but that's golf

I'm glad he dug deep and pulled it out.

You have to play golf regularly to understand how mentally tough you have to be to gut it out on Sunday like that. I'm not a big fan of DJ but he deserved that one.

Lol...on a side note my winning quartet today put up a +18!

That's a damn avalanche of strokes...needless to say I didn't place.

Thanks DOT!

The usga doesn't even think that.

They penalized him because they think him grounding his club after practice strokes caused ball to move. Seconds later. Which is a Chrystal ball interpretation aka horse shite.

I play golf like 3 times a year and typically only tune in for majors when I think about it...so basically I don't know much about the actual rules.

Can someone clarify the rule about grounding? Like why does it matter if your putter is grounded or not?

Unless it is known or virtually certain that the player did not cause his ball to move, the player incurs a one stroke penalty under Rule 18-2b for his ball in play moving after he addressed it.

From the USGA website. If he grounded his putter there would be no way to be certain the action of grounding the club wasn't what caused the ball to move.

The rule has been there forever. The way it was handled was idiotic. I read that he told a rules official when it happened and he was told no penalty. To be told he would have to go talk to the rules officials again after the round is plain old stupid.

Did we ever get a ruling on who won? What was the low score?

Is DOT in witness protection?
