Another big performance from Cedartown running back Nick Chubb. A Georgia commitment, Chubb rushed for 281 yards and four touchdowns and had an interception and forced a fumble for the Bulldogs. Johnie Flakes scored four touchdowns for Gilmer.

On a sad note:
Cedartown’s Caleb Ely sustained a head injury during Friday’s game against Gilmer and was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent brain surgery. Cedartown coach Scott Hendrix said in a text message Saturday that the next 24 hours were critical.

I have kept up with Chubb throughout the year, but I live in Bama, unfortunately, so I hear more about Bama HS Football. Anyways, after hearing this I did a little research in this kid. He seems to be one of the truly great kids in the world today. I wish more young men would grow up with the values that Ely seemed to portray from what I've read. Truly awful story, I will be praying for this young man to overcome this battle, because the world needs more kids like this. Frankly we need as many as we can get.

QB committ Jacob Park at Stratford HS struggled and lost to South Florence in a rain game. Both teams were underfeated and ranked in the top 5...SC AAAA .

Meanwhile, Kawon Bryant put up 297 yds on 20 carries with four TDs, setting the Athens-area record for TDs in a season (37). Still counting...
