UGA vs South Carolina -- my reasons for concern and optimism

Why I'm most concerned about UGA's chances against South Carolina:

1. John Theus is still a freshman and he's likely to have some problems against either Clowney or Devin Taylor. Better have Arty Lynch helping out.
2. UGA offensive line overall may have some issues in this game...I don't think they've faced anyone so far this season who had much of a defensive line. This could be as ugly as Alabama in the famous "Blackout" game.
3. Murray has a history of choking in big games. This is one of those games where you wish he had the David Greene cool. If he gets rattled, here come the INTs.
4. The UGA defense has not looked the same against the run so far this year. They had a lot of trouble with the tailback from Buffalo, who was a pretty skilled guy. That was Buffalo...no problem...we could just score at will. Lattimore hasn't typically been stopped...at best, he's contained. If SC's offense is allowed to be effectively balanced, that will be a problem. I just haven't seen our defense get it all together yet this year...
5. Losing Bennett hurts because he is a guy who really blocks -- it's not just a matter of replacing a play-maker.

Reasons for Optimism

1. Our offense...at least against mediocre opponents...has been a steamroller.
2. Even without Bennett, we now plug Mitchell back in. Mitchell, Brown, King, Conley, Wooten...that's still a lot for the SC secondary to deal with.
3. Gurley and Marshall...perhaps not as proven as Lattimore, but impressive. But they've never been tested by a situation where they had very little space to work with...so can they rise to this challenge? We'll see. Still, SC must respect the run with these two.
4. UGA's defense might be ticked off at how much negative press they've gotten about giving up a lot of yardage this year. With the suspended guys now all back and hopefully back in sync, UGA's defense could try to show that it deserves as much respect as South Carolina's.
5. Murray has completed around 69% this season and other than a rough patch against Tennessee, he hasn't been making many mistakes.

What do you guys think???

Good synopsis. I'm nervous about this game, too. I have a feeling one team will ultimately dominate the other, in some form or fashion.

The only thing they have over us is a D - Line. We are better at every position besides this.

Its our game to lose. I have faith in this teams ability to stomp some chickens.

We haven't used the screen pass to the running back this year, at least I don't think we did, but we need to hit the with that alot considering the pass rush they will bring. Thats what worries me most, that damn pass rush.

Good objective summary. UGA has only averaged 14 points per game in Columbia. The games are almost always close and I expect a close pretty low scoring game this time. TO's made the game last year an anomaly but I can't imagine that many turnovers this time. Regardles, Goooooooo Dawgs!!!

Most predict a low scoring game...but you never know... I think folks expected that last year, too. You just never know with this game. Seems like there were a number of years when we clearly had more talent and should have won handily, yet it was painfully close. Or we lost...

Sure would be nice if UGA were capable of the getting back the true road warrior confidence and acting like a champion caliber team. Haven't seen that this year yet...defense is mostly same guys from last year...you would think they would get it together for the biggest game so far...

This is practically a championship game.

One thing that I haven't heard much about, and, I think this will be a key factor, is the USCe offensive line. Their o line has not only not performed very well this year, but has had allowed a lot of pressure to cause hurry ups. This may well be their Achilles heel, although I'm not sold on their defense yet, as they have played ZERO high scoring offenses. I really don't think this game will be as close as many predict and I can see the Dawgs blowing this one wide open. Let's face it, the Dawgs were looking ahead, and UT had a beast o line. I'm telling you guys, this will be decided by the o line play.

Jarvis Jones will make up for last week by having 4 sacks and the DEFENSE has one game at full strength under there belt. GURSHAL and our DEFENSE make the difference in this game. GEORGIA wins BIG!
