Obviously all the super conference and playoff bullshite is a money grab and not in the best interest of what we love about college football. That's been covered.

Now, they just announced that they are putting in a 2 minute warning for CFB. More commercials, more NFL lite bullshite. It's sickening what they are doing to our game

The Europeans wouldn't allow this shite to happen to their sport. I don't see how we turn the tide on this.

We've crossed the Rubicon with the portal and NILs. There's no turning back now. Anyone with any sense knew this would happen once players started getting paid and allowed to transfer without sitting out a year.

Just sit back, watch Georgia win, and be thankful we're alive to witness our Golden Age.

it absolutely sucks dick and what's most annoying of all is that it's sapping away my interest in the sport year by year. 2 mega-conferences, 16 team playoffs, free agency, hired guns and massive roster turnover yearly, players and recruits making more than the coaches, 5:1 ratio of commercials to game play, multiple hundreds of dollars just to get in the door, elite players having practically no loyalty and bolting for the feirst better opporutnity, etc. etc....its' pathetic. It's not college football.

What REALLY makes me scratch my head is...how or why did the powers that be that make these decissions jsut now start ralizing that there's a lot of money at play? CFB made a bunch of money up through 2015 too but you didn't have to fundamentally alter the founation of the sport. The fatcats in charge coudl still be multimillionares without doing all the shite they are.

TV execs from the Northeast who know absolutely nothing about college football run the sport, and I think they are trying to alter the core fanbase like NASCAR did in the early-mid 2000s. They don't like that their core fanbase is largely made up of white men from the South and the Midwest. That's the only explanation I can think of as to why they would change so much stuff about the sport that college football fans love so much.

I wish we could sign up to watch the walk-ons from each (real) SEC school play each other. They would still be good games since the talent level is probably equal.

May just become a hardcore high school football guy.

We would get crushed by schools that accept almost anyone including OM,LSU,Bama,AU not to mention Georgia Southern and UCF and lucky to draw 15K

It would be the end of UGA FB

I'm not saying our walk-ons vs their first team lol

Walk-ons v walk-ons

Let the NFL create a minor league and the elite hs school players can go there and get paid to play. The leftovers get scholarships at the universities. No NIL or transfer portal.

Funny enough, the actual in game changes bother me the least. It’s the post-season mess and the constant conference re-alignment that does away with treasured historical rivalries that’s killing me. I’m sure I’m in the minority but I’m going to miss playing all the SEC east teams every year. Minus Vandy. Not because we’re in our Golden era and bludgeon them, but because I remember not too long ago having to actually sweat those games out because they were better then and we weren’t as good as we are now. For me, SEC football is as much about celebrating southern culture and history as it is about the games themselves. That’s what is slowly but definitely changing that really sours things for me.

Neither did I

Do you know who hard it is to get into UGA compared to those other schools?

We would be bottom feeders along with UF and Vandy.
No thanks

They covered the entire field with virtual adds, sidelines are one big billboard, and jerseys have sponsors..if soccer is what you speak of.

That said, all teams wanting access to more money and players wanting more money…it is only gonna come from TV deals…that we will directly or indirectly pay for.

Yeah but they rioted when the leagues tried to form a super conference. The ads are like that because no commercials, doesn't really take away from the game.

Oh, okay. Yeah idk, maybe. I would think most walk ons are of similar quality, no matter how dumb they are. Maybe we would have a depth issue though.

This is it for me too. A small part of southern culture is meeting people from different regions of the south and asking them within the first few minutes which football team they go for.

One of the allures to CFB for me was watching as the young kids came in and fought for playing time, became stars, moved on and then you reset to the next bunch of recruits that commit to the G. This may have been the last two years of that.

Now even the kids with promise and playing time transfer while we bring in kids from other programs to potentially start over kids that dreamed of playing at UGA and have fought to be there.

It kinda sucks.

I’ve joked about how maybe now the schools should start intramural tackle football teams that are comprised of actual students who are at UGA for degrees but want to play football for fun and not get paid. And then maybe people would show up to watch the games. Sounds kind of fun.

I haven’t watched HS football since I was in HS, but my boy was on Varsity last year and I loved going to those games. Getting to know the kids, cheering for the school, getting to know the parents…it was a blast. Plus the games are so crazy with different schools, talent levels, refs that truly suck, going to away games. Man it was fun and there is a pure spirit to those games that’s hard to explain.

I guess it’s because you’re watching pure amateurs at different talent levels trying to execute at something that’s really difficult given all the moving parts. Seeing a kid you know turn out to be a terror at LB or young, tiny RB with great moves finally bust one….its just awesome.

And actually the thing that ruins it is when your kids go out and face a football mill school with an a-hole coach that everyone knows recruits from 3 counties to get the best team he can to win another championship.

We played school like that last year and you could hear their little prick of a coach berating players all the way over on the visiting benches. A part of me wanted to go over and smash that a-hole into the turf.

I think this is going to have an impact on donors. Keep on donating more to keep your tickets! lol.

I think the shift from donors to sponsors is already happening. Tickets will be more and more filled by corp purchased seats. The irony is students keep getting the shaft at a lot of schools. Can’t even go see their team play while students.
