Yawn. I bet people made a point telling you how special you were. Maybe even stopped a basketball game so you could shoot a pretend game winning shot.

We literally wasted millions on Crean. Probably over $10 million at this point.

That would would fund the sports no one talk about for some time.

He was less than perfect but had the 1992 season that keeps him from being the worst.

We went from hiring "cheap" with fox to swimming in the deep end of the pool with Crean.

Your argument is literally the opposite of everything this board bitched about for decades under mcgarity, evans, and michael adams.

I'd rather play MLB baseball where we swing big just in case we hit something. Recruiting is such a big piece of college athletics and getting someone with name cache' is imperative to outcompeting the rest of the conference.

Or you can not be as wrong as we were with Crean. If only we had highly paid people in the AD whose job it is to make these important, expensive decisions...

I never said this

He had very down years but also had a 10 win season and this was in an era when we were not very good.

He was the reason for us not being good in the era and are you really white knighting for him for having ONE 10 win season in 7 years?

i think he makes a good point. there probably is an ancillary sport that has made a worse hire, but of the programs that people actually care about and the ones that should be making money for the University, Crean has to be up there. Ruined any and all stability the program had, never made a postseason tournament, didnt take advantage of having Anthony Edwards on his team, and basically lost an entire roster of players. All while being the highest paid basketball coach in our history.

Thats pretty fricking bad, and it happening in one of the big 3 sports makes it even worse.

Ray Goof, I know he tried hard but he was in over his head from the get go.

Crean is pretty bad though. To have the ATL within an hour drive of Athens and let all the players get away to other schools (the barn) is ridiculous

I responded to your post beacuse it was the most recent in the thread

first of all there are a lot of raesons we weren't very good in that era. Jan kemp and steve spurrier chief among them. I'll also point out Dooley was 40-17-4 (65%) his last 5 years, and goff was 29-18 (62%) his first 4. It's not like there was a massive dropoff. But most important, I'm not white knighting for goff being some badass, I'm sipmly saying he's not LITERALLY THE WORST coach in uga athletics history. Some of yall need an elementary school level lesson on reading comprehension.

Crean was a pretty successful coach before coming to Georgia. His teams here have been mostly embarrassing. Georgia has a basketball recruiting problem. Don’t understand it? I’m sure good players want to attend a school with a record of winning and putting players in the pros. A lot of good players come from Georgia high schools, we just don’t get them.

Brah, you do know Brooks has been on the job less than a year, right? You really think he doesn't know what's going on?

We have told you this before but you have conveniently ignored it b/c you know, agendas and such.

You're gonna have an epic melt when Kirby gets his $100MIL contract extension in a few days.

Ron Jirsa definitely outrank Crean

knew the name Ron Jirsa, but never looked into him. Would be interested to hear the reasoning behind you saying Jirsa is worse than Crean?

Jirsa had two years as head coach...went 35-30 (15-19 in SEC)..i assume the fact that he followed Tubby and basically killed the momentum of the program, has something to do with your position.

Crean in 4 years..47-64 (15-48), and while the program didn't have as much momentum compared to when Tubby left, Fox had a very stable floor set for the program. Crean just demolished that and will be leaving the program much, much worse than we he arrived.

Schott will always be remembered fondly for what he did to Spurrier that year. Made him quit football.

Otherwise he has had a good nfl career. Just bad timing .

Didn't Crean have about eight guys transfer out after last season?

I remember thinking - what the heck is going on with all of these transfers? Do guys not want to play for him? Does anyone know??

They are by far and away the least talented team in the SEC.
Would another coach do any better? Georgia basketball seems like a totally lost cause and has been that way for years and years.

Went on a narcissistic rant how none of them were good enough to play for him. They said FU and left. Allof them basically. Should have been fired for cause.
