That was a weak effort against a team that had no offense. I'm sure they wont fall in the polls. But they are not that good.

Yes. They are. They lost very little from possibly the best team in the country last year. (At least one of the top 4 or 5 best teams) It is the first week. South Carolina will not be as bad as they looked last night, either.

Best team in the country? Come on man.

Who the hell knows, but Minnesota is one of the best coached teams in the country. I wouldn't be surprised to see Coach Kill in the SEC before long. All he does is win. Not surprised they hung with TCU.

He's spent his entire career in the Midwest and he has the whole seizures issue. He's staying put.

They're one of the 2 best teams. They won on the road on a Thursday night in their first game against a very well coached team. Minn will probably be one of if not the best defense they play all season. Just because they didn't do to Minn what they did to Ole Miss, doesn't mean they're not one of the best.

Week 1 = over reaction to the extreme
After Clemson we were #1 last year and Natty locks

I DID say possibly. I don't really think they were, (the best team)but they were not very far from it, in my opinion. They were (again, in my opinion) a top 5 team, and probably should have been in the playoffs as a top 4.
We will never know just how good they were. Maybe I give them too much credit the way the dismantled Ole Miss. While I don't think Ole Miss was a GREAT team, their defense was very, very good.

Yeah, I won't argue top 5. Honestly, their resume should have had them in over OSU but Baylor and TCU combined don't have the money or fanbase that the Buckeyes have and money talks.

I agree with the point about TCU not falling in the polls. It was game one and they got the win on the road and that's all that matters now. The jury is out on them and everyone else and the season will just have to play out.
I do recall Florida State coming in to last season as the defending National Champs and they got behind and struggled in some of their games but remained at #1 or #2 until the Championship Game so I don't think you should read too much into these things.

Did you actually watch the game? And yes they did lose a lot from last year. They lost six or seven players from their defense from last year. The announcers were talking about it the whole game.
That well coached Minnesota team was 8-5 last year. It is one thing to be rusty the first game. That is not that was.

They were clearly rusty. Boykin missed 2 wide open receivers for touchdowns.
It's pointless to go back and forth about this now, let's just see how it plays out. TCU, IMO, is going to be right there in the hunt in December.

Will be interesting to see how Bobo and Colorada state match up with minnesota next week in Bobo's first real game as head coach......

Sarcasm noted. They were well-coached but their talent level is not high. I'm sure Alcorn State was well-coached too. Does that mean Tech is #1?

Unfortunately you are correct. And we might miss some very worthy teams in the playoffs because of that. I have little to no doubt that Notre Dame will be picked over a more worthy team.

Mope. Didn't need to.

Defense is NOT what made them tough last year. Offense was and they return 10 starters from their offense.
Ten starters get welcomed back to the nation's fourth ranked offense including star performer Trevone Boykin behind center.

Really? So, not other team that turned out to be very, very good has ever struggled in their first game of the year? Why don't we revisit this at the end of the year and see who is right? if they don't make the 4 team playoff, I will apologize and admit you are wrong. If I am right, I won't ask you to do anything. No lose situation for you. Deal?

Deal. Gatorhator was right. Its to early to be debating it. But we will see.
