I think it was more that Quayvon will play the closest thing we have to an H-back role by moving to TE

ATHENS, GA. – Georgia junior wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell, recovering from a right knee injury that ended his 2013 season, will miss the remainder of spring practice after hurting his left leg.

Georgia announced Saturday that Mitchell was injured during practice on Tuesday.

Mitchell, regarded as Georgia's top receiver, tore the ACL in his right knee during a season-opening loss to Clemson. He had been exposed to only limited work in spring practice.

Georgia director of sports medicine Ron Courson says Mitchell is still expected to have a full recovery by August, when the Bulldogs begin preseason drills

Yea, I wouldn't put him up there yet. He's got the potential to be but I'd put Bennett as our #1 right now.

MM seems like he'll never reach his full potential because of injuries. Very similar to Reggie Brown who was able to put it together his last year of school.

Damn Carrollton use to be a decent area for talent, not so much now.

No one ever wants to love Conley...sumbitches.

I'd go
1a) Bennett
1b) Conley
2) Mitchell
3) JSW

And I wouldn't separate them by much. Btw, how has JSW's rehab come?

When Mitchell's healthy, he's clearly #1 to me. Best combination of athleticism and hands that we have.

After that, I'd say

2) Bennett - he finds ways to get open and make catches. QB's best friend.
T3) Conley - reliable, but at times struggles to create separation against the better corners out there.
T3) JSW - elite speed. Was great until he got hurt. Haven't seen enough of him

I think Rumph will make a big impact this year too. He has the highest upside of any of them

I think he's our best homerun threat for sure but I just don't want to label him #1. Nothing against him either. I think he disappears at times.

HATERS. HATERS EVERYWHERE.

I get he isn't the most athletic and I seem to always be in the minority for this but IMO he's got the best hands and hes the clutchest WR of them all. Bennett is right behind him but Conley has glue on his gloves.

I am with ya on not seeing a ton but what we have seen was impressive. I think he's a damn hoss and may be the best of. them all by the end. And while we have seen only a little the games we saw him were friggin LSU, USCe, CU, and UT. Impressive SOB.

Wouldn't that be awesome

Remember when UGA never had WRs worth a shite or only 1-2 at a time?

What was the talk about him being an H-back to block linebackers, but tight end as a transition, or something or other like that.

We've got no tight ends for spring practice.
Kind of like putting JJ Green at tailback because we had no RBs last spring.

With Hugh Williams leaving, there are a ton of reps for that big HBack blocker. I'm not sure if Quayvon will stick at that spot. But the playing time is available for whomever wants it.

We're trying to find what to do with Quayvon. He could be a threat in a lot of positions. Putting him closer to the line of scrimmage may be a way to eliminate some of his raw areas at FB.

If I'm picking a team, I take Michael Bennett first at WR.
He is our third down receiver. A poor man's Tony Gonzalez.

Second would be Conley. Whoever says he isn't athletic is crazy. He does disappear. And he wasn't the red zone threat last season I had hoped he would be. But he can do every route. And do them well.

Third is a tie for Mitchell and JSW. If you aren't healthy, you aren't helping the team. Both kids have all the talent in the world and could be a #1 receiver on this team. Both kids can stretch the field. But more importantly, they can turn a home run out of a simple crossing pattern or curl better than anyone else. I like JSW better because of his frame. He's more likely to be able to stretch a play for a first down when closely defended. He's a strong kid.

Rumph is like Marlon Brown. Show me.

This thread:

odd

Don't see how. We have limited depth at OLB right now.

Interesting to see he has jumped Wiggins, at least early.

Richt said Watts Dantzler is getting work mostly at tackle now.

Odd. Do we think he has a good chance of beating out Kolton? I suppose this bodes well for the young guys at OG.

Wut? Are you serious?

I think what may be best is to run more H.back stuff with him and when we want to run formations with a FB put Hall/Douglas in there.

Everything at this point is really interesting. Still waiting to see/read/hear more.

Interesting to see TOby Johnson starting right now.

Toby is our most athletic guy on the DL by a lot. He was very highly recruited out of JUCO for a reason

Yea Toby Johnson is hella athletic. A 300 plus guy that can do a backflip is pretty impressive I don't care who you are.
On our WR position I wouldn't put too much into the writer saying Mitchell is our best WR he's just trying to make his spring storyline sound more interesting. I would put Bennett as our most reliable just has trouble getting open sometimes with the speed out there but he has sure hands. Mitchell at two for obvious reasons. The dude is a threat anytime he lines up. I hope Mason can throw that back shoulder route like Murray could. Conley would be my third with JSW right behind him. JSW getting healthy and back into playing shape he could be right up there at number one. I also think Rumph has the highest ceiling of all the WRs and a full season under his belt he will make a huge impact this year. Mason does like to go to him just depends on where he gets to line up. When he is the featured WR he is hard to beat but he got lost down the depth chart during his short playing time the last few games

true on the depth...he's just a bit shorter than our previous OLB...seemed like a perfect ILB to me.

As of now I think you could say these have proven they are worth their salt:
Mitchell
Conley
Bennett

On the cusp
JSW
Reggie Davis

Unknown
Rumph

The somewhat intimidating problem is that we'll lose Bennett, Conley, Rumph, and Mitchell after this season. Hopefully the youngins can get some work.
