I agree Depprig our schedule is much easier to start off with, but going into Columbia, SC is going to be tough. I hope Rankin can make some noise and get into the rotation for 2015. Love the way he plays the game

How bout this...let's take 4 teams from last year that weren't top 10 (not even close)
UT,Vandy,Kentucky and GT
I have no doubt that we'll be better BY FAR in PTS,Yards and Turnovers
Do you?

UT lost every starter on both sides of the ball and is in athens this year.
Gt has lost all of their playmakers, and also in athens this year.
Do you want to use vandy and kentucky as measuring sticks? I dont think that would measue a damn thing.
Pull your head out of your arse and stop acting like a bitch ex girlfriend mad at Todd cuz he shook you one time.

He's such a pussy...and I'm acting like a bitch ex girlfriend?
He's the one longing for CTG's cock back in his mouth.
By any statisical yardstick he was the worst DC in the CMR era and perhaps the worst of the modern era of UGA FB...

He's got all this figured out and written out on a whiteboard. It's titled "Defending Grantham". It's so he has an argument and an out for every scenario. He'll switch back, like he did from when he wanted him fired.

Grantham was not a good fit for UGA...I won't say he isn't a good coach, but he wasn't right for our program. I expect better results from Pruitt's D fo sho....his resume is a little more impressive IMHO...
Deeprig,
dude calm the frick down. step back from the ledge. if the guy is so great...go on and get you one of these:

CTG's gone and the AD didn't have to foot the bill in moving him out. I will call that a win/win.
The rest of it doesn't matter. On a side note, you would think the Auburn ranters would have picked up on this divisive ploy with as much hate as they have sent in our direction this week.
They dumb.

If it weren't for Todd losing to vandy and struggling at times with UK, they wouldnt' have to be measuring sticks.

I wouldn't put that loss solely on Grantham with everything that was going against us that game (the targeting penalties that led to scores, special teams, injuries, etc).
That said, it was Grantham's job to keep the other team's offense out of the endzone when they're threatening to score. He didn't do that nearly enough during his time at UGA, even against bad offenses.

Pretty much in UGA history, as far as Points Allowed, if I'm not mistaken.

Grantham's 3-4 defense was fine... even last season.
5 men all along the line of scrimmage. We outmanned and outflanked the opponents running game and made them one dimensional.
Unfortunately, he only was able to whip it out against LSU, N Texas, and a bit versus Nebraska.
Grantham's nickel defense sucked salty balls. Teams who could push the ball downfield (even bad teams) were able to run and throw at will. We couldn't contain the edges. We couldn't crash the interior. We were outmanned at the line of scrimmage, and we weren't able to get into obvious passing downs enough to beat the opponent with a straight 4 man pass rush.
Fortunately, Pruitt's scheme is a lot more complex where he asks a lot more of his players. Grantham focused everything on the linebackers. It's why we had arguably the best linebacking crew in the SEC last season. But Pruitt will spread the responsibility. Every player will get a chance to be the hero in his defense. Floyd, Jenkins, Drew, and Bailey better get used to dropping into the flats or zone coverages. Green, Wilson, Herrera, Moore, and Mauger better be prepared to run blitz. Pruitt will firmly plant 5 guys into the trenches on the snap. But it won't be the same guys like we saw under Grantham's nickel. Rig is right... when you are relying on Ray Drew to drop into zone 20 times more than Grantham asked, you are running a more complex defense. He's just better at teaching it on a high school level than Grantham was.

Rig, answer me this.
How does one of the best defenses to come through UGA, talent wise, give up 350 yards rushing to Alabama? Only Western Carolina and Missouri gave up more yards per rush attempt.
I still don't understand why you defend Grantham like he was the second coming of Erk Russell. He had a complicated defense that he obviously never broke it down simple enough for everyone to understand. You can have a complicated defense, but you have to know how to break everything down for the players to understand, not keep the same schemes when even the starters don't grasp the full concepts.
Pruitt is obviously starting from the beginning and covering every basic step 100% before moving on to more complicated things. I'm positive he will have a complicated defense, but unlike Grantham, he will teach and drill each concept until it becomes second nature so our defense can go out and play without hesitation.
You've heard the comments from current and former players. Grantham had a bigger and more complicated defensive playbook than NFL teams. If that doesn't speak volumes to you, then you must have dried Grantham cum in your ears.
