Was there anything surprising about the spring game??

Our TE group is filthy and Beck looked great

The on field microphone espn gave Kirby only picked up three of every five words, Nakobe Dean gave one of the most awkward interviews in history about a ring in a box, and Stet pulled of an Elon Musk level master troll on his haters with his purposefully erratic performance.
Also the espn booth brooded over South Carolina, Miss State, and Kentucky being our three toughest games. Ha ha. Exciting Times.

They passed a ton, very few runs. That surprised me a little.
Arik Gilbert looks as advertised, not sure if you'd consider that a surprise or not.
Delp, the new freshman TE looks like a Bowers clone.
Kearis Jackson got relatively few reps, I found that somewhat surprising.

Also- it is now official, Arik is pronounced Eric. The announcers made sure to tell us twice.

Beck flat out looked like a starting SEC QB. Not that Bennett looked bad, just that Beck looked really good.
Oscar Delp looks like Bowers 2.0. Just a polished TE with great hands and route running.
Arik Gilbert is at 265lbs and moves like a WR. Caught multiple redzone TD’s today with DB’s all over him.
Edwards is a nice little scat-back with crazy wiggle. Probably going to surprise a lot of folks.
Meeks looks like George Pickens. Maybe not quite the hands, but dude clearly hit the weight room and looks like a nice big WR.
Blaylock is catching everything thrown near him, covered or open.
McIntosh, Milton, and Mitchell are freaking good. Really, really good.
Broderick Jones and Sedrick Van Pran are freaks, and the rest of the OL looks solid.
We don’t have to worry about the size or depth of our DL. Carter, Logue, Stackhouse, and Brinson are all massive and got the inside locked down.
We’re deep at CB. Tons of talent, but a bit handsy. Probably going to get a few more PI calls than we like, but also going to be really hard to pass on.
Safeties and LB’s got beat up some today. TE’s and RB’s sorta had their way with them.
Overall, biggest takeaway was we are obnoxiously deep at people who can catch passes. Bowers and Washington weren’t even out there and it seemed like we were still overflowing with obscene receiver talent.
We’re probably going to have to outscore some teams to beat them this year, but after seeing our offense today, that’s not going to be an issue at all. Like I’ll be shocked if we’re not a top-5 offense nationally this season. It looks that potent.

With a Kirby Smart led defense I don’t think we will have to out score many opponents. The mistakes and holes will be filled I’m overly confident our defense will be just fine.

Yeah… doing it to a top 10 defense too. Imagine the likes of Uf, Tenn, UK, or SC

I missed the second half. How did Stockton look?

Only watched the first half but I agree with these takes. No reason we shouldn’t score 40/game with Montken at the helm. This OL should produce a 1k yard rusher although we have many mouths to feed. RBs will be an improved group. Defense will take a natural step back after a historic season. Might see some growing pains there.
Hard to see a major challenger for the East. Probably Tennessee Florida South Carolina in that order.

Stockton didn’t do much hard to tell

After looking kind of confused and rushed last year, Beck looked ready to assume the reins if needed. He looked like he “gets it”.

I agree. Looked 10x more comfortable.
ALTHOUGH, he was playing backups. But he made some impressive throws and seemed to pretty consistently give his receivers a chance on tight coverage throws.

Beck did look good.. but the #2 defense is no where in the same realm as the 1s. The #2 O is much closer to the the 1#Offense.. the 2 defenses are miles apart.

Is there a way to search the sewer archives and see how many people posted in previous G day game days compared to this one?
Yeah yea Laugh it up, and click the red colored douche arrows all you want dorks, but the phenomenon is real

Over reaction that you have read 15x already…. Our 4th string TE (whoever you deem that to be) would be a 2nd string on a lot of NFL rosters…

Probably a top 3 offense, top 10-15 defense, Delp looks REALLY GOOD, as did Gilbert. We are obnoxiously talented on offense.
We really should not lose a regular season game next year.

Beck got a couple of series with the 1s vs 1s for those who only watched the first half. It didnt go great.
Brock got a couple or series with the 2s vs 2s and he looked good (no 60 yard bombs, but he commandeded the offense and hit his targets 20 yards downfield).
Gunner had a Justin Fields impression mostly handing the ball off and throwing a few 4-6 yard routes.
Basically, no QB looked great today against the 1s defense. Plays were made and a few points were put up, but there was a ton of inconsistency at the position.
I thought the receivers (except Gilbert and Delp) had a bad day with drops. Again, the throws werent pinpoint. But we hit a lot of hands that went for incompletions (and that was either of the 3 QBs)
