Why is it that stuff like this seems to affect certain position groups before moving on to others? A few years ago we couldn't keep a RB out of trouble (no doubt having Gurley and Marshall as our feature backs the past few years fixed that) but now it has been DBs for a while.

It may frustrate us but this shite has to be absolutely maddening for the coaches and players that are doing things the right way and working their arse off only to have stuff like this hurt the team.

Yep, the better question is why did we recruit him in the first place? I mean if we can't do better than a 2 star DB, then hell just recruit in another position.

So was the best defensive linemen we've ever had. Sometimes there are guys that we take flyers on that may not be camp superstars but that can play a little bit. I don't know about his situation, specifically, but I doubt he was taking the place of someone we had higher on our board.

I get their are under-ranked exceptions but they are exceptions none the less. With Pruitt we should be able to reel in 4 and 5 star DB's every season.

I think we've seen a big shift in focus in recruiting under him. We'll probably take at least 6 or 7 defensive backs this year.

Keith Brooking got like two offers and one was from Tech and the other was from the University of the Blind Mercy Sisters of the Poor. He went on to be their leading tackler and I think we all know what he did at the NFL level.

He ran in late and rode the pile for a sh*tload of partial tackles. Don't you ever speak highly of Keith Brooking on this board again.

Ever.

I went to middle and high school with him. Played middle school and high school football together. He was a good guy so I don't really care about your opinion as it's pretty misguided. I was using him as an example of someone who flew way under the recruiting radar and whether you like it or not was a great football player at the NCAA/NFL level.

CMR just said it was an accumulation of things. So there was stuff we didn't know about.

He sucked for the Falcons. Smelvis is pretty dead on with his comments.

OK, a five time Pro-Bowl NFL linebacker sucked. That's your's and Smelvis' opinions and you entitled to them. We can agree to disagree.

However, the original reference that I made to someone that wasn't highly rated or recruited that went on to shine at the NCAA level holds true in Keith's situation does it not?

I agree with the NCAA part.

We found middle ground!

And look, I don't think Brooking is the greatest NFL linebacker or anything drastic like that. He was a cool guy in school and I was happy for him that he made it.
