No, and if there are any Rig Juniors in the equation, you'd be shelling out money for private school if you lived there - assuming you're talking about it being a permanent residence.

I stayed in this unit for a week last year.
The purchase wouldn't be for me.
The people living in this would be retired people. Or renters.

Hell, for $400 I could just build a lean-to in the maritime forest off the side of I-16 and live the life of Tomochichi.

You ought to be able to find that size condo on Tybee for equivanlent money. I would much rather live there or in the Islands area than downtown - but to each their own.

Pretend you are 68 with a couple mil, and don't care much for Tybee, other than a weekend here and there.

I can imagine that easily - vicariously through an aunt of mine, that is. She truly thinks downtown is heaven.

Now imagine your aunt currently lives in a suburban hell of Cobb County, is 68 years old, kids all grown, wants a downtown walking lifestyle in a pretty little town like Savannah, has plenty in the market and more pensions + SS than she'll ever spend in a month...
Drop $250k on this little place and make it her own?
Or just keep VRBO'ing her way through Savannah for the rest of her life?
Aunt So and So also spends 3 months abroad in Europe every year.

Like a lot of good stuff, I missed this.
What was your critique of Savannah, Jefferson?
I'm sure you don't like the Yankees that move there, but I've always been fond of Savannah.

But I'm the sole heir.
I have a vested interest in this decision.
$275k can buy you 275 weeks of vacation time in Sav. Or Charleston, which they like every bit as much as Sav.
Cobb house paid off, worth about 200k, keep that as home base, spend 3 months in France or Italy every year, spend 3 months in Sav or Chas every year, you are probably better off renting. You'd have to live to be 110 years old before it becomes financially better to buy in Sav/chas.
But as a greedy heir, I say buy buy buy.....

More yankees in Charleston than Savannah.

Very true. Plus the folks from up north I've met in Savannah were way cooler than the Ohio contingent all over South Carolina

I love Savannah....I just love Charleston more.
And as far as yankee pollution, Charleston seems to suffer more from that plight than Savannah by my gauge.
But, I'm not from either so I can't say for certain and I know myplace. Although if.... the CHS-SAV Salt-Life war to ever re-ignite, I'd probably throw some cheap shots.........

As you should. Because Charleston is better. But olddawg now has his savannah signal go off in the sky
