That is certifiable Cocoa Puffs, and it's their takeaway from this entire tragedy. FML.

How would a person go about identifying a Venezuelan??

They are just making shite up now instead of addressing the mass problem.

The mayor is doubling down on his sanctuary city idioticness and trying to save face. I hope his dog takes a shite on his pillow.

Yesterday or day before, WSB-TV had a story on their website (I only look at it for the weather radar but occasionally click on a headline).

Former GBI Profiler on the UGA Attacker-

Paraphrased from the former profiler:

He must have killed her because he panicked because he didn't expect her to fight back when he simply wanted to rape her.

He was just out and about looking for a morning rape, likely had no intentions of killing her.

If only she hadn't fought back and given herself to him, she may very well be alive today.

First of all, imagine saying that out loud to an interviewer at WSB.

Secondly, imagine being WSB and running with that as an alternative angle to the story.

Is he defending it? Or denying it?

It sounded like he was defending the humanity of it.

The entire process is that a police force arrests an illegal immigrants for a crime and then reports the individual to ICE. No different than if a county in South Georgia had an outstanding warrant for that individual.

The entire notion of sanctuary cities creates a haven for criminals. It is no different for foreign countries that do not participate in extradition. Criminals flock to those municipalities.

Athens refuses to do so? If so, that’s sanctuary

Didn't the police chief run on refusing to prosecute/refer to ICE?

There of the clips of the mayor doing so. I don't know about the sheriff.
Police chief is typically an appointed position. City manager or mayor would have a hand in that.

Police Chiefs are appointed positions so not sure who or what position you are referring to.

It was the sheriff who ran on that. Weird that he wasn't at press conference but the police chief was.

The Sheriff runs the jail, serves warrants, and provides security in the courthouse in Athens. I'm not sure what kind of actual policing powers they have.

Gotcha. Would have thought since he is a elected guy that probably likes being on TV, he would have worked his way in there though.

Finally got an answer from UGA Legal Office-

quote:

Good afternoon. Thank you for your inquiry concerning Georgia’s “Campus Carry” law. In consultation with the University System of Georgia, our response to your inquiry is as follows:

A lawful weapons carrier is permitted to bring a concealed handgun into University spaces not otherwise exempted (e.g., faculty, staff, or administrative offices; classrooms in which dual-enrolled high school students are taking classes; and buildings or property used for intercollegiate athletic competitions). There is no prohibition on concealed carry by a lawful weapons carrier on the trails at Oconee Forest Park, located behind the Intramural Fields.

It is the responsibility of those who choose to carry handguns on campus to make themselves aware of where and when they can do so. Additional information regarding weapons on campus, can be found at this link: LINK .

Unreal quote from an Athens Councilwoman

quote:

Last night when given the opportunity to respond to murder of Laken Riley, Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Melissa Link said the following at the Mayor & Commission meeting —

"I am as disgusted by the crime as I am the hysterical glee with which so many have seized upon this tragedy to promote division, bigotry, and hate. This tragedy offers yet another reminder that monsters are real and they come in all shapes and sizes. With terrifying regularity, they come in the form of white men with weapons of war fueled by mental illness, bigotry and right wing conspiracy theories who slaughter classrooms full of school children, congregants in churches, temples and mosques, hapless shoppers and revelers at concerts, nightclubs, festivals and parade routes. Mass murders have become so routine they are only met with thoughts and prayers from the cowardly Republican legislators, governors and judges who enable unfettered access to such weapons of war. And everyday, monsters come in the form of young men behind the wheel of big trucks and fast cars who ignore the rules of the road - endangering the public with impunity often walking away from fatal crashes with barely a slap on the wrist."

"We live in a violent patriarchal society in which even our own bodies are not our own - a society in which desperate mothers are sent home from emergency rooms to suffer unassisted miscarriages as they bleed out on their bathrooms floors and raped little girls are forced to give birth to their step daddies babies. In which at least two of our Supreme Court justices have been credibly accused of sexually assault and at least three were appointed by a traitorous, insurrectionist, bigoted, lying, cheating, fraudulent, philandering rapist. I call upon those who are so overcome by Laken Riley’s death to channel that outrage towards protecting the living."

She managed to hit just about every lunatic, false, left wing talking point there is - racism, white supremacy, patriarchy, gun control, Islamophobia, even big trucks and fast cars. I bet she’s a hoot at parties. Btw, she looked exactly as I thought she would.
