What is one thing you have been right about and one thing you've been wrong about so far this season?

Wrong - Edwards shouldn't take any snaps away from Milton because Milton is the better runner.

HUGE whiff here. Had high expectations for Milton, but my goodness Edwards is showing out so far.

Right - Tennessee will be our biggest challenge.

We'll see Saturday if it's just hype, but I felt like the way they played last year and their bursts of offense would be a problem a year later... and here we are.

Jefferson- Should we break out the preseason time capsule? I havent' looked at it yet bc I didn't know if that should be an end of year thing or if it was ok to do a midseason check in

Stetson is the opposite player from last season.
He is sticking the ball in horizontal windows against zone. Struggling more in the vertical windows. It is effecting the ypa. However, we are a much more dangerous team when we can fit tight windows and routinely get out of long down and distance.

We are better running the football out of 12, 22, 13, and uneven lines than I expected in the offseason (in the past, more bodies didn't create more push and jammed up lanes for our backs). Our running success isn't all dependent upon our OL (but they sure looked damn good against florida).

I thought the offense would be significantly better than last season. I think it would have been had AD and Arian been healthy up to this point.

I think we are significantly better.

Through 8 games
Rushing yards per game is up almost 5%
Passing yards per game is up 43%
Total yards is up almost 26%
Points per game is up over 10%.

Success rate is better.

We are worse at explosives passing.
We have 1 more turnover than this point last season (feels worse because we are causing 3 less).

Would also say it 'feels' worse because when they come, it's in bunches. We go from clean to contagious.

People struggle with anedotal or eye test measure versus what the actual stats say. We are one of three team to pass for 300 and rush for 200 every game.

Our offense grinds and wears. Great O line and those two TEs create mismatches on passing and running. Not only does this wear down the opposing defense, but it keeps our defense on the sidelines.

We currently are #7 in NCAA in First downs with 217. Ole Miss leads nation with 228. UT is #11 with 209.

Wrong: Rushing yards. I thought at least one guy between McIntosh and Milton would hit 1k yards, possibly both. I was most definitely shooting for the moon here but thought they'd be better than Michel/Chubb.

Right: Offense will score at will. I was thinking we'd be upwards of 50 ppg. So not 100% right here but close. I felt 100% during the Oregon game that's for sure.

Its hard to gleam anything off what we have done to this point.

I am tired of the scrimmage atmosphere and think even Kirby needs to learn to stay focused to keep games from falling apart, even if for one more quarter.

We do a little of this and a little of that and generally blow teams out.

Pitt by far played ut the best and they did it by playing cover 0 and sent the house over and over again knowing they may give up a long play.

To me maning up should cut down blown coverages. This offense is a passing version of the option and motion is to set up an open wr instead of a blocker.

I actually think "working on us" is for the best. Lots of rotation (even on the OL early in games). Going from a heavy short game (screens, sweeps, and quick hitters to the perimeter) to trying to stretch the field to working the intermediate/deep game in between the numbers.
We are trying to be an offense that can generate momentum and energy every way possible to loosen a defense.

We can't be predictable. We can't go man cover 1 or cover 0 too often. Tennessee stacks receivers and runs mesh. The entire point of our defensive gameplan will be to slow down Hendon by changing looks and resonsibilites.
Don't let him sit back and be an option quarterback (run and shoot). Force him to be a quarterback (read defense and progress through reads with the ball in his hands).

Pitt wins by 14+ if Slovis doesn’t get knocked out.

Right - Stetson Bennett would be inconsistent ad display a lack or arm strength.
Wrong - Robert Beal Jr would have over 10 sacks on the season. So far, he has that in total tackles, 10.

Right-Thinking Edwards would break out
Wrong-Thinking SBIVs accuracy and decision making had improved after seeing the Oregon game compared to last year. If his tight ends didn't have the wingspan of a 747 there's no way in Hades we are undefeated. I don't think he's hit a player in stride all season......maybe one, once Blaylock but can't remember the game.
