Senior day focused on Aaron Murray, and for good reason.
#27 Rhett McGowan, from Calhoun GA, however, sums up what it means to be a college athlete. There should be some kind of award for people like him.
2009: Redshirted as a member of the scout team ... Named to Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Dean's List for summer and fall semesters.
2010: Appeared in two games ... Made first-career reception for 12 yards vs. Idaho State ... Caught one pass, a 20-yard TD, in G-Day game.
2011: Appeared in seven games catching seven passes for 84 yards and a TD ... In SEC Championship Game vs. No. 1 LSU caught two passes for 22 yards ... Caught four passes for 51 yards and a TD vs. New Mexico State ... Earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll distinction for fall semester.
2012: Appeared in 14 games, and had 12 receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown, and returned nine punts for 75 yards ... Had two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown vs. Georgia Tech ... Caught two passes for 30 yards vs. Georgia Southern ... Had two catches for 26 yards vs. Ole Miss ... Caught two passes for 26 yards and returned one punt for 19 yards vs. Vanderbilt ... Returned a punt 23 yards vs. Florida Atlantic ... Awarded a scholarship in early August ... Recipient of the David Jacobs Football Scholarship.
2013- To be determined.... already has had his best year, mostly because of receiver injuries... he stepped up.
The guy has played his arse off while maintaining good grades and never got a scholarship until last year. He was just playing for the love of the game. Scout team abuse.... loving every minute of it... he'll never make a dollar off football... plays and practices and sacrifices anyway.... every day... for years... no scholarship... just for pride and love of the game and UGA
damn good dog.

Walk on? Sounds like a trooper. What's he studying?

Rhett has been the man this year. I wish the circumstances were different, but he's certainly stepped up.

We keep those Calhoun kids coming in. There is another solid walk-on on the Scout team now.

he's made the most from entering in with the least physical attributes back in '09.
DGD.
The man will be very successful in business once he leaves UGA. My son is a biochemistry major too, and he will have many $$$ options once he graduates.

...and all these scholarship players want to get paid to play. Rhett shows what college football is all about.

Rhett recently became a father as well, makes this season even more impressive IMO. Pretty good guy, have hung out with him a handful of times since we have some mutual friends.

I hope he gets picked up late in the draft or at least an UFA. I think he would make a great slot guy at the next level.
