Not necessarily, that is a failure to get enough oxygen to the body in general. Jimi Hendrix died from this for example when he passed out on his back and threw up which prevented his breathing normally.

Drug overdose can do this too which is unfortunately probably what happened.

What was amazing was his range. He could go from Genie/Mrs Doubtfire territory to truly horrifying in One Hour Photo.

He apparently stopped cocaine after Jim Belushi Od'ed, but did fall off the wagon alcohol-wise. I do love his last HBO comedy special, especially the parts about the human genitalia by committee. And his description of taking viagra after the heart surgery.Somehow all the bodily function humor wasn't sordid when he did it, it was just human.

Deeprig: I also think you are doing him a great disservice. I have read many really endearing things he did throughout his life ( such as visiting Jonathan Winters weekly until his death and taking care of a lot of Christopher Reeve's medical bills) , and from people who worked behind the scenes in his stuff, the common thread is that he was an incredibly nice, sweet man.

That is the current theory, but an intentional overdose is a....................

For the folks that don't think he was an extraordinary talent in many areas, we probably won't see his like again.

Agreed. He made doing voice-overs "cool" for top celebs when he did the Genie in Aladdin.

I bet it was auto-erotic asphyxiation, like David Carradine.

For some reason the authorities are covering it up.

It's freaking disgusting when people idolize celebrities or crying like they lost their own loved one. Yet when an average person dies they think nothing of it.

Under appreciated talent and easily one of my all time favorite entertainers. Dead Poets Society still gets me, and I catch myself still watching Hook if it's on tv. RIP.

Truly creative people are rare. Whether you appreciated his style or not, he was unique and he entertained a lot of people during his time here and found a way to make them laugh and be happy.....Not just anyone can do that. He was different than you or me or most people.

And that's probably why some people are feeling sad or reminiscent about the lost life of a complete stranger here. a-hole.
