My golfin' buddies and I are looking for a few good courses to play with some elevation. Something different than what we play here on the coast. I was wondering if you fellers could recommend something in the mountains with some great scenery.

Not the greatest course, but you wanted some views and elevations.

Achasta is a great spot. Just about 20 minutes north of Gainesville towards UNG campus. Designed by Jack Nicklaus too.

I would also agree with Chateau Elan and also mention Brasstown Valley, but they are probably expensive.

Chestatee is also very nice. Not tons of elevation though.

I actually played my high school golf matches at Chestatee. Definitely a good course. And idk about the lack of elevation, walking that course back in the day was fricking miserable.

Innsbruck is one of the first ones I found on Google. Plus, I havent been to Helen in about 15 years. That might be the spot.

Any good trout fishing in that area? Im bringing my flyrod as well.

Waterfall Club at Lake Burton.

You want mountain golfing? That's the best mountain course I ever played. Phenomenal.

It's a private course, but give them a call and maybe they'll hook you up.

P.S. It's West of Clayton, Ga, on 76. About as North Georgia as you can get.

Innsbruck is definitely hilly and has beautiful views, but I quit playing it cause it was in such bad condition. I'm not sure if they've gotten that straightened out or not. I haven't played it in about 4 years. Chicopee is pretty nice and has plenty of hills. Where are you staying? When are you coming up?

Currahee Club is a good choice. Played it with Tommy Aaron a few years back. Getting up in years, but still a heckuva player.

Had to use my driver to get over the quarry on #17.

Still like Waterfall a bit more. More mountainous and much shorter. :-D

Lots of stocker streams. Would be a tight fit for a fly rod tho. If it was just you I could get us out on the hooch in a drift boat. Only fishes two tho.

Just golfed with him that once. It was a charity event. Still amazed how he could take a 2 iron and just nonchalantly drop it close to the pin at 17.

Also remember him saying he doesn't play The Masters anymore because it's too hilly to walk. Really nice guy.

Probably in Oct. or Nov. It might just be the wife and I. She'll be done with chemo next month and we'll be ready to do some traveling. I just got her a set of clubs and shes big into camping so we might go that route.

Sweet. Hope she's doing well. Hut me up closer to time. We will try'n get together and drink a few. If it's October I'd say you'll want to book a spot to stay soon. Doubt they'll be a place in Helen this late. Octoberfest and leaf gapers are out in full force then.

Currahee Club is the best and toughest. I have played it many times. If you want elevation changes the back nine is unrivaled in Georgia.

I just played Chestatee this week and the course was in great shape. Also, you can use these bad boys instead of a cart if you go out before 2 30. GolfBoards
