same here on the weed...got to quit that shite soon too....gonna have to get a job in the real world soon.
they say nicotine is harder to quit that opiates, but i don't think that is true....it sucks, and you're gonna be an a-hole for a while, but people can and have done it before.

Dipped from the time I was 16 to 23. Quit for about a year not for any reason other than I just didn't really feel like doing it anymore. Started again out of boredom recently. Only do it MAYBE once a day on my way home from work or when I'm really drunk. It's really just been more about the oral fixation for me.

I would bet that the success-rate for dippers/smokers that try to quit after setting a "quit date" is probably less than 1%......

weird...i started dipping around 16 and i'm 23 now...but see i go through a can a day...usually two dips with a little bit left over. after meals is the hardest part for me. what did you dip?
jeff, everything i've read says that is the best strategy and it has worked for me before...sort of
did you just up and decide to quit one day?

I quit smoking two years ago after multiple attempts. You have to really WANT to do it...its 90% mental and if you don't want it you'll fail.
Don't drink for at least the first week or two....it just makes it harder. So you need to be at least 30 days in before football season.
Don't use a patch or gum....you're still giving yourself nicotine and prolonging the agony
The hardest part for me was the 2 to 8 week phase. The newness wears off and its a grind. Dig deep.
Fight the "I've quit so just one won't matter" urge that'll be there a lot during the first 60 days...especially when drinking...if you break you've just started over on day 1
Man up
That's all I got.
BTW ... I set a quit date. I had to time it between travel and other conferences...work stuff...

tough love from the squatch
drinking will be tough...i don't plan on getting shitty every night but i'm thinking a whiskey drink before bed will help...maybe i should edit that out of The Plan..
Anyone had success with faux tobacco dipping products like mint leaves?

Several times. Until It stuck. That's part of it......Setting dates a month away is just prolonging your next relapse until you are REALLY ready.
I remember quitting for a couple weeks once and vividly remember the shame and disappointment in myself that i felt driving to the gas station t o get a can when I couldn't do it.
That's when I realized I was a slave. That I'd become a servant. And had a master that I cowered before and crawled to like a spineless coward weak piece of shite.
frick that. That's against everything I believe in. And once I saw it in that light, i got pissed, and fought my way out.

Its hard man...no lie. The weird part is how your mind plays tricks with you to convince you to just have "one more". When you're through the initial withdrawal you can look back and realize that's what what was going on....but when you're in the middle of it its tough.
But I smoked over a pack a day for a looooong time so I was in deep. You're still a young'un so you'll do fine.

Your Master still calls you... you sometimes hear him calling as just a whisper in the wind, sometimes you feel him inside of you, mocking you.
"You are going to die anyway, what do you think, you are going to live forever? You choose to suffer this way.. needlessly"
This is what your Master says.
You can hear him calling...
right now he's calling you...

Yep...like standing in the smoking "lounge" in the airport like a monkey in the fricking zoo.
Or standing outside in freezing weather, rain, etc.
Sneaking around on business trips so nobody would see you.
Nicotine addicts are the only class of people that its acceptable to shun, hate, discriminate against or laugh at. Its actually encouraged....

It honestly doesn't. A year out, I still dreamed about it from time to time. But, thats all gone now.
Some are comfortable wearing the yoke and others are not........i guess.

Why was tobacco created to begin with? If you aren't someone who believes this world is all some big accident, that is.....
I mean, It's not like its something you can enjoy in moderation. Once you do it enough, you're hooked. And long-term, horrific things happen to you...
It's almost like it's a Test or something. I don't know...... Strange world.

When are you going to come to the same conclusion with alcohol?

You mean about "why was it created"?
I think they're two different animals. At least, for me.

So getting back on track how is music midtown set up? Are all the stages outside? Do we have to have tickets to see each performance like a ticket per band
Posted on 6/24/14 at 10:36 pm to dawgfan24348
I only went once and it was over a decade ago, but back then, you bought one ticket and could walk to any stage you wanted. Which were all outside.
Also, you had to wait in one line to buy beer tickets. And then go wait in another line to buy the actual beer with the beer tickets. But, hopefully that horseshite has been abandoned by now......

I went last year to the Saturday session. All stages were outside in the huge lower bowl of piedmont, across the st from Grady high school. You have a general admission pass that gets you in the gate, then you're free to go and see whoever you please.
