The genre may not be to everyone's liking....but good luck finding a group of musicians tighter than AK and Union Station...

That's pretty good.

Everyone goes through music things in youth that may not be the best of choices. Regardless, I had a great time at those shows as well as the three shows I got to see of the Dead before Jerry died.

And, just to throw more kindling on JD's fire, by 98 Phish shows were over run with frat boy pseudo hippies and HS kids looking for "dank", mushrooms, or x. Couldn't even enjoy a show with out some gutter rat bumping into me and asking for drugs.

But, the music is still good. My mother was a friend of Captain Beefheart and knew Zappa - she found Phish to be reminiscent of those artists. As I heard a lot of Beefheart and Zappa growing up, I did as well.

To each his own.

JeffersonDawg,

It is with great enthusiasm that I respond to your interest in my musical tastes.

As a child, I always showed musical interest and my parents were completely supportive. Clarinet, saxophone, piano, and finally guitar after puberty, were my instruments.

As a child, and through my teen years, on through college and into adulthood, I've enjoyed all types of music. Rap, classical, country, hippie, metal, industrial, punk, post punk, pre punk, post post pre punk, and fusion.

Whether it's a 1933 Django Rheinhart ballad or Eazy-E, if it's got an infectious tune, I will listen to it. Yes, that includes Phish. They are a good band. They are a great band.

Many phish fans are dirty foul people. There is no denying that. But that's not the bulk of the fans. It never has been. If you were to walk through a Phish lot in the 90's, you mostly would have seen normal looking young people, but most likely would have only noticed the jester rolling around on a skateboard screaming like a banshee and trying to sell drugs and/or get his buddy out of jail.

Many bands have embarrassing fans. David Allen Coe and Dr. Dre certainly have many fans they'd rather not be associated with.

I hope this correspondence finds you well, and if you need any more information, please don't hesitate to call me directly on my cell.

Respectfully,

Deeprig9

No alter, always here. Used to live in the Mac and have a huge Panic dick, so while I have a lot to contribute, I mostly just read.
