I understand you're talking about Madison proper, but Morgan County has some really nice countryside. I love the drive up to Athens through the Eatonton-Madison area. Just my worthless .02.

Grew up near Madison. It's grown a lot and better area than Covington. Close to Athens and can run 441 to the mountains or beach. Lower cost of living than some areas around it
