Just logged on and looked up my Comcast. 300gb per month, and you can pay $10 for 50gb more. They give you 3 courtesy overages a year. I'm at 50 Mbps, they have a higher speed at 105, as well as 20, 6 & 3.

You get what you pay for. Get cable internet where you can if you can afford it. There's some things I can skimp on but internet access is not one of them.

That is better than I'd have expected from them, but I am talking about back when I had it before, about a year and a half ago.

They used to just decide all the sudden and it took getting sued for them to create the policy your talking about, but I don't believe they stick to if for a moment. If they decide they don't like what you're doing, they'll just insert a RST packet in your data stream to reset your connection and screw up whatever you're doing/downloading.

Is says potential place for it, but I've heard it was a go. Looks like just not in yet.

It's not in Atlanta. It is PLANNED for Atlanta, but if you read through all the details, all those planned cities are contingent on a lot of "ifs" being met by their leadership. Again, for the foreseeable future, it's a pipe dream.

Note from that link:

quote:

How long before these cities know whether they’ll be a Fiber city or not?
This process will take some time, but we hope to have updates on which cities will get Fiber by the end of the year. We want to have the chance to work closely with every city to map out and understand all possible local needs and challenges.

quote:

What exactly do cities need to do now?
We will be working closely with the mayors and staff from each of these 34 cities. We’ll walk through details about the Google study and about the fiber-ready checklist, and we’ll answer any questions they have. After that, we will be working closely with the cities over the next few months as we work on our study and they work on their checklist. Then, the completed checklist items will be due to us on May 1.

quote:

What would keep you from bringing Fiber to a community?
We hope to bring Google Fiber to every city on this list, but there are a few circumstances that might make it tough and even impossible to build our Fiber network in a city. The city’s checklist is the most important step towards making their community ready for the fiber-optic networks of the future. If a city doesn’t want to proceed with us and chooses not to complete their checklist, we won’t be able to bring them Google Fiber. There are also some physical characteristics of a city that might make it really complex for us to build Google Fiber. For example, underground construction might be really difficult due to bedrock or unusually hard soil. In these situations, we would share what we learned in our studies with city leaders and we hope they’d be able to use that information to explore other options for bringing super high speed broadband to their residents.

If your router has a daily traffic monitor you should be able to get a good idea of how much bandwidth you use.

I'm on Mediacom with a 250MB usage cap and I average around 215MB but I only stream football and ATP tennis with ESPN3.

You could easily go over the ATT caps. From what I've read and heard from friends ATT service is terrible and the speeds are slow.
