One of the guys on ST is selling this gem. The color made me think someone on here might be interested. The truck is in NC:

Gets major points for not having super wide white wall tires on it. Sweet truck

nice looking truck. but looks overpriced for what it is.

Short bed fleet side is the way to go as far as retaining value, though. I personally like the next chevy body style, after this or the older fords

I'm sure he would entertain any reasonable offers. It feels like a reluctant sell, so that could be the reason for the high listing (weeds out the non-serious lookers).

looks like it. And I wasnt trying to knock the truck. I love old shortbeds. but for 25-30k you can get a very well built hot rod or an original show winner. His truck looks like a 15-18k or less.

Almost bought a 46' ford last year. kick myself for not doing it now

Dang, I think JacketFan made a good point about weeding people out. Good lookin' truck. makes me wonder how much of it is original parts

Hindsight is 20/20, right? I can't imagine all the teens and 20 year olds of the 60-70s who'd KILL to have their old beasts back if not for memory's sake then for their wallets.

Kinda funny, these people all owned these old trucks or muscle cars when young and now they are shelling out a helluva lot more to get them back. And truth be told I wasn't alive back then but I don't blame them one bit. One day my dream is to get filthy rich and get a truck or car from that era. I dream high, though, like 60's Charger, '64 GTO, '72 Chevelle or one of these trucks. Ignore the, like, $50-70k disparity in those vehicles

That makes sense. I bet that'd be hard to part with cause it looks from at least those pics to be a nice truck that's been well taken care of.

It amazes me what asking prices for these are now. I bought a '68 C10 just before I turned 17 in 2005, paid $5k for it. It was a shortbed stepside and while that truck wasn't flawless by a mile, $5k damn sure doesn't buy you anything close to that quality anymore it seems.

I sold that truck this time last year when I moved and I look at various project cars all the time. I'm constantly blown away by what people's asking prices are on even the most rusted out pieces of crap. Too many rednecks watching Barrett-Jackson shows.

I may have a picture mine somewhere if I find it will post. It was the baby blue custom deluxe with the OEM 283 option. I had an eight track in later with the cassette converter. You could put two kegs in the back 8 girls with lounge chairs and drive it in the middle of the creek set the speakers out on the top and get down charlie brown.

I hit a 4 point buck one time coming back from lake Buckhorn and it didn't even dent the bumper.

A few more details from the owner:

quote:

1. The radio is a reproduction unit designed to closely replicate some of the look of the original truck, especially the knobs. The company that produces the unit is called RetroSound. Functionwise, it has AM/FM and an IPod hookup which also comes with a remote control unit in case someone is too lazy to reach over and push some buttons.

2. When I purchased the trucks years ago, the owner indicated that the small block Chevy engine had approximately 15,000 miles on it (it was replacing the original inline 6 cylinder unit). I have only added 3,000 miles since then.

3. Previous owner also installed an auxiliary cooling fan unit to reduce engine compartment heating.

My dad and I restored my grandmother's 73 Duster that she gave me after my 81' Buick died. We got it back to this look before some idiot rear-ended me at about 40 mph at a stop light and completely destroyed the body and frame.
