I'm not just talking about making memorabilia money. I'm talking more about marketing and advertisements.

If a great college WR who may not be a great pro prospect has a $15k ad deal with a local company, that could maybe be just enough to persuade him to stay one more year to help his stock.

I'm not sure the Pro model is what we're going for in NCAA athletics.

NCAA rules are borderline unconstitutional

Nobody's saying TG can't profit from his name. What they are saying is that if he does he can't be part of their club....which is very constitutional.

Their sandbox...their rules. You don't like it, don't play.

Yep, basically you could end up with semi-pro teams in college with universities competing for non-first and second round players to stay through their Senior years. Heck you might have some first-rounders stay making good money until a more optimal draft situation develops.

Exactly,

Every single signee at the Barn would all be riding hosres with the "yella wood" fat arse in one of his commercials.

Once you open a can of worms like that there's absolutly no way you can controll it.

I think the biggest problem would be a booster telling a 5 star we will pay you 100K for X amount of autographs if you sign with our team. It would turn college football into a booster arms race.

Yes, and that would be wonderful. Anything that separates the fat cats from their money in favor of the disadvantaged is good. Those who say that such a policy would upset the balance of college football fail to understand that there has never been a balance, there never will be a balance and there never should be a balance. Let the fat cats try to purchase championships and they will often fail to do so.

The NY Yankees would like to disagree. They routinely buy their way to relevancy and while they do not win it all every year they are consistently better than most programs due to the fact they spend boat loads more on the best players.

The Yankees often fail to win the World Series in spite of all the money they spend. Likewise, the Dodgers flamed out even though they went wild spending. All you've done is make my point. Trying to maintain some idiotic idea of balance makes no sense.

Did you read where I said buy their way to relevancy? Compare them to low budget teams like the A's and how to they compare? They are routinely in striking distance of the world series because they buy talent nobody else can afford. Conversely, in the NFL where you have a salary cap that hinders you in future years for making such moves, you have more of a revolving door of successful teams and dynasties are harder to achieve than just throwing money at the problem.

The New York Yankees have won 27 titles, accounting for 25% of all series played and 43% of the wins by American League teams. The St. Louis Cardinals have won 11 World Series (10%) and 24% of the 46 National League victories.
