on Offense...the guards worry me...

Kubs started to come on strong last year and got some PT late in the season if memory serves. Pyke has been one of the biggest surprises all camp, and has basically held down RG all offseason.

Obviously we could be better off than we are, but we could be doing much worse as well.

Definitely some surprises in there. There may be some unannounced suspensions.

Yes, or who they want them matched up on. Same with the LBs

I would take this depth chart with a grain of salt. Seems like the coaches are playing everything pretty close to the chest. Might be some mind games going on here.

After watching Clemson in the Orange Bowl during the Greygatch Preview Extravaganza, it's clear what Morris is going to do with that gimmick offense.

First we must take an inventory, Donald Rumsfeld style.

Known Knowns- Tajh Boyd is gone and Stoudt was likely their 3rd string QB, Kelly was kicked off team and Watson is hurt. QB Stoudt is unlikely to be as mobile as Boyd, and is unlikely to be as effective of a passer, having little experience and little confidence from his coaches, having been 3rd choice last year behind Boyd and Kelly. And probably Watson.

Known Unknowns- We don't know how good Clemson's receivers are going to be. We can assume that none of them will be as good as Sammy Watkins unless we believe they have 2 or 3 more first round picks on their roster. It is a safe assumption they don't, because it is a safe assumption that no college team has 2 or 3 first round receivers currently on their team, as that would be a rare feat.

Unknown Knowns- There are things we know about Clemson's offense that we don't know that we know, later in hindsight we'll see we knew a few things that we didn't acknowledge knowing now.

Unknown Unknowns- There are things we know that we don't know, we know that we don't know how good the receivers are going to be. We know that we don't know how good their offensive line is going to be, and we know that we don't know how well-conditioned they will be running the hurry-up in the heat. We'll see on Saturday some things we didn't even know we didn't know.

I'd run a 2-5-4 with Bailey* and Thornton in a 3 point stance lined up directly on the guards. The 5 linebackers Jenkins, Carter, Herrera, Floyd, and Wilson roving around the line, left right, back and forth, confusing Stoudt so he doesn't know what call to make in his zone read.

When Morris calls trips make sure the bubble screen is covered by bringing the free safety up, forcing Stoudt back into the zone read.

We'll stay in man coverage with the free safety in a Cover 1 and Wilson in the robber position over the middle, unless Wilson is the one called to blitz, then Floyd is the robber. Floyd is a better matchup for a tight end anyway. Morris will inevitably run a post, a go, and a wheel route out of trips left to let Stoudt throw away from whereever our free safety goes on that play, but that takes a couple of seconds to develop and Stoudt isnt going to have that kind of time against the Deeprig Rover D.

With the DRD, we can't go wrong in this game.

If Watson comes in and demonstrates legit mobility, the only adjustment in the DRD is to have Wilson drop back into robber ONLY after he visually sees Watson drop back to pass. Count on a few freshman errors and pressure to create the turnovers we'll need to make this the blowout it should be.

It will not surprise me at all to see Watson in this game early.

Edit* Bailey in for Mayes, Mayes injured or concussed or something.

Boundary corner and short corner

Boundary corner plays the short side of the field. SC on the depth chart stands for strong corner, or field corner, which plays the wide side of the field. Just Pruitt's change in terminology.

Unless somebody has information otherwise, I'm assuming Mayes won't play saturday.

Something else I noticed, Ramsey isn't necessarily the backup in front of Bauta, they put in the word "OR" after Ramsey... unless "OR" stands for something else..
