Dude can wear whatever kinds of pants he wants. His verse and poetry are solid and clearly UGA likes it enough to pay him to participate in videos that a large majority of fans enjoy. Just because it's artsy and eccentric doesn't mean it must, too, fall under the Hipster umbrella. Hell, performance poetry like this began in the 80's in Chicago Jazz and Blues clubs and have more to do with giving an expressive voice to the impoverished than to some kid going through a phase in a coffee shop. It's dramatic and hyperbolic and larger than life but that's the whole point; it's meant to tell a story and incite an emotional reaction.
