I remember one time I stole the schtick from you and rolled over the next page, and everyone was outraged. I never did it again after I saw how important that ritual was to them.

I know it was only 2018, but Quay Walker picking out the Tennessee hat before throwing it off stage and putting on the Georgia one was a recent instant classic.

The Hearst and Hastings recruiting class pre-dated the days when recruiting was its own media industry, but the Hearst/Hastings class and the 1998 class were the two biggest deal recruiting classes we had in the 90s.

Back when I was being recruited, there was this dude who had like a 10 ish page mailer with some updates and the top 10 players from each position and called them Blue Chips. It was a big deal to make the Blue Chip list. I made it at like 8. I might still have it somewhere.
People actually got their recruiting news weekly in a mailer and paid for it.
I have no idea how that dude knew who was really good or not in that era. Pretty sure he never saw me play.

I think it was 2011 I was in the back of my history class and vigorously refreshing various places waiting on Isaiah Crowell. Was so happy when I saw him pull that bulldog puppy out.

Then in 2017 I think waiting on Isaiah Wilson’s 3 hour Christmas program to finally end.

The Forrest Davis magazine was a big deal for a long time, even though it turns out Forrest Davis was kind of a bozo. In one of his last magazines he had Tyler Watts as his number 1 player in the southeast and predicted that DJ Shockley would be moved to wide receiver in college lol.

What year was that? Was it the year our recruiting class was a disaster?

Hearst and Hastings recruiting class

I was on campus during this time. Didn’t they both have new, red 240sx’s with personal “Hurst” and “Hastings” plates?

I know Andre did. It was his Aunt’s and she was nice enough to let him use it.

That wasn’t the rumor amongst us common students though…as you can imagine.

That brings back memories…..

In ‘89 when when I was a freshman I was dating a freshman girl that was the ex boyfriend (but I’m not sure he saw it that way) of a QB recruit that same year. You probably knew him. She was a legit beauty queen…one of those that “got away” that you’ll always remember. There were several times when him and his buddies showed up at a party we were at that I thought I was about to get into it with some UGA guys. I’m not a small guy but also not in player shape. That would’ve ended badly. I became the back door man and she thought it was sexy at the time.

Also, I had friends at Chi Psi (?) so we were at a band party and a few players showed up and basically terrorized the place. I asked one of the brothers (and there were some big guys there, not like Sigma Nu or TKE) about why they didn’t stop it.

I’ll never forget his comment….”yeah, we could’ve ganged up and kicked their arse…but then they’ll go down and empty McWhorter and the LAST thing I want is Hiawatha Berry showing up in my front door”.

Fun times.

Hiawatha was actually really nice. Preston’s gal was hot if it is the one I’m thinking of. I was in Grad school at the time, but knew a lot of them due to some of my duties and stuff. Hiawatha drove an old Volvo. He wasn’t in the new car club.

I too remember when I figured out masturbation. I think it was Madonna in Dick Tracy.

Having tutored both Hastings and Hearst while in school, I can confirm this.

yeah. I’m on the young side so the “Dream Team” was that really sticks out to me. I thought Isaiah Crowell was about to change UGA football forever. Lol

I remember Marlon Brown being a late surprise and being really excited about him.
