This is a pretty obvious thing to point out, but I've never really thought about it much..maybe it's because it's not a fun chapter to dwell on.... But, it's pretty far out to realize now how this one single epic and historic play in UGA football history also included a future UGA head coach. And that it was he himself who's Defense drove daggers through our hearts that night and watched and laugh while we bled out in the December cold. This is Game of Thrones script type story telling, man. In real time.

I disagree. It is a great play for that situation. The DB is tired and rattled. If the ball gets there it is a relatively high % play as far as passes go and the clock stops if you miss it.

Jefferson, on a quick throw like that, you typically attacked the rusher and engage them so they can not jump up as high.

And he did lunge forward towards the defender, who was just too good.

No he didn't. Gurley, a freshman at the time, let the linebacker come to him as opposed to engaging him. Had he done what he was supposed to, we'd likely be 2012 national champs. But such is life as a Georgia fan.

Does anyone else watch that play and hope that somehow, Conley will drop the pass, and retroactively change the outcome?

Its sort of like trying to look at the tv from an angle to see around a corner...that shite just aint gonna work no matter how much you would like for it to.

Like I said if you are going to run that play in that situation go ahead and spike the ball. The timing of the
of the play looked a little off along with MM's spacing.
The DB looked neither fooled or gassed although I've heard that reasoning before.

I would like to hear what KS would have to say about the play and situation.

You have momentum and they may even be thinking you are spiking the ball. It's a 2-3 second play and low % interception. Dumb luck... Our lot in life as of late.

Gurley had two mistakes in that 4th Q. We had a 3rd and short that would have let us burn more clock before Bama got the ball for the go ahead score. Instead of lunging ahead to ensure the first down, Gurley ran upright and tried to hop forward. If he lunges, first down and maybe Bama doesn't score as easily.

Nailed it. It came up for auction recently and flew under the radar. I only wish it had a picture or a letter which could tie it in to the GI who liberated it from the Nazi's.
