Fitting that Kirby would tie Spurrier for the most SEC East championships in the final season of the SEC East.
Lot of overlap between the two. Spurrier was 44 when he was hired by his alma mater. Kirby was 41. Spurrier had a hard time beating Georgia when he was a player and never forgot it. Kirby had a hard time beating Florida when he was a player and never forgot it.

Right. Spurrier was a bad winner and and horrible loser. He would beat you and still run his foul mouth.

You’d be hard pressed to find another player-to-coach storyline like this in college football.
