Top247 Georgia target Mecole Hardman Jr., an athlete out of Elberton, Ga., wasn't shy in opining about the Bulldogs quarterback position once the 2016 season rolls around. He tweeted on Tuesday that he feels the Bulldogs' quarterback battle will be over once Lake Stevens (Lake Stevens, Wash.) signal caller Jacob Eason arrives in January of 2016. Eason is the top overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports.

Eason is either going to start as a Freshman or as an experienced Sophomore. Either way, he's playing meaningful snaps next year because frick you.

One ramification is Park transfers to the Cocks and a team we weren't going to have to worry about for three seasons now becomes one we do

The Cocks didn't want Park out of HS. I doubt they would now.

Park is an afterthought here, and outside of a few weeks in teh spring where people got excited about him, has made very little noise at all in the QB race and has never seriously challeneged to start. Even in our practice scrimmages, he barely got any mopup reps behind ramsey and bauta. So why is he someone we would be "worried about" if we played against him?
I think he's a good QB, I'm not saying he's garbage. But if he can't even get higher than 3rd string here, especially considering what's ahead of him, that kinda speaks volumes IMO.

So Lambert has a country club name, ability to grow bama bangs, and an attractive girlfriend. If he has a terrible chest tattoo then I'm all in.

No. Mason and Greyson Lambert are the heirs to Preston Jones legacy.

I know it should not be a criteria that I judge a player by but I stood at the hedges behind the bench last year and had a lengthy view of Parks. With his jersey tucked up into his shoulder pads(granted, it was hot as hell) and the perm/ ape drape he was sporting along with the mexstache made me think "this guy might be our future QB." Just kept thinking "I hope this guy can ball out to make up for the trashy look." I know that's insensitive but it was my honest feelings.

I don't think you're at fault for that. When you have a long line of people at a position that are essentially in the same mold, someone who is almost the total opposite can make you feel a little hesitant. Mason, Murray, Cox, Staff, JT, Greene, Phillips, Bobo...they all pretty much looked the same for the most part. And even DJ was just a country sounding dude with no tats and clean cut.

Spurrier wouldn't accept a transfer from Park. Didn't want him out of HS, I can't see how he would want him now. The kid just doesn't have "it". I don't know exactly what "it" is, but there's a reason why both USC and Clemson never offered him.

I know three plumbers named Tom Brady but none of them can fix a leak.

I respectfully disagree. Spurrier is in trouble at QB and would gladly take someone like Park now. Besides he won't be there in two more seasons. How many QBs did people "not want" that later came back to erupt on people who said nobody wants them? I'm just saying we gotta be careful. Put yourself in the kid's position. No doubt he's pissed and there's someone whispering in his ear about greener pastures.

Is Lorenzo Nunez on campus yet? I doubt they would take Park when they have a prospect like that about to come on board.

Park will have to sit a year, I don't think OBC is to concerned about two or three years down the road unless it's improving his handicap.

Jake Rowe on Richt & UGA taking Lambert... Not a bad read...
quote:
But why did they decide to pursue the redshirt junior? The rational is simple -- the more the merrier. The Bulldogs are entering the summer months without a set starter at quarterback with three contenders for the position in Faton Bauta, Brice Ramsey, and Jacob Park -- at least one fewer competitor than Richt has stated for the last 15 year that he would like to ideally have on the roster at one time.
quote:
But its about more than just depth. It's about more than just having one more body at the position to keep the job. It all comes down to two words -- why not?
While his numbers from the 2015 season won't blow you away, Lambert has more game experience than any quarterback on Georgia's roster. He's experieced victory, defeat, and everything in between. At the risk of tossing out one too many cliches, he's battle-tested. Lambert had five separate two-game stretches last season where he attempted more passes than Ramsey, Bauta, and Park have attempted in their college careers combined.
quote:
Why not let a guy who was recruited by Georgia out of high school come in and see if he has anything to add to a position battle that is crucial to the team's success in 2015?
Why not give Lambert a chance to move back to his home state and experience a fresh start? Why not add depth and competition?
Why not? The Georgia coaching staff certainly couldn't find a good reason because unlike me a decade ago, they understand the value in taking help wherever you can get it.
