That's a possibilty. I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of response time. If he wanted someone to come help he could have contacted someone that was capable of getting to him quicker.

I'm hopeful since the cops were called and address given, they checked it out.
I once ALLEGEDLY made what was called a "terrorist threat" on a tiny little fishing website and had the the FBI show up at work and drag me into my boss's nice office and interrogate me for an hour.
If the cops did nothing about this after being called, I would be very surprised and disappointed.
If this kid dies, and we can get confirmation in the coming days, the media will be involved to find out why the cops did nothing when they were presented with specific confirmed information.
In the end I don't even feel bad for the guy, but his family. Someone has to find him. Someone comes home from work and ready to kick off the boots, open a beer, and turn on the TeeVee... but no.... dead boy on the floor. And once the cops and coroner leave, the family has to start making funeral arrangements, big money, calling all family and friends... any of you ever have to make one of those calls?
riiiiiiing
riiiiiiing
"Hey deeprig, you little man-bitch, what's up?"
"Hey, um, I've got some bad news...."
And then make 25 or so of those calls.
Then your own phone starts blowing up with people grieving and/or trying to comfort you, when all you want to do is just be left alone....
And it goes on for a week or two...
And forever after when you walk in the door after a hard day of work, ready to kick off the boots and open a beer and watch some TeeVee, you'll remember and have to relive the time you came home that day and found the dead boy on the floor.
Pray for the family, they are the real victims here.

That shite came out right when I was grilling up a storm and sucking down a few cold brews, talk about a buzz kill... I do hope he's okay and maybe it was just a medication reaction or something he can work out short term.

I hope we hear something one way or the other, hope the dude is OK & praying for him. I'd hate for this thread to not have closure too...

This is also a possibility. If he's schizo then he's probably on abilify, a third generation anti-psychotic. One of the side-effects is suicidal ideation.

Maybe around 8 tonight someone could call the number again?
It will have to be someone brave

After he started the thread, the "online" green-light thing of his eventually went out. THen a few minutes later, it was back on. Before going out again a few minutes later.
May mean nothing. But, if he logged back in to read replies, that might be a good sign. WHo knows? Grasping at straws here probably.......

How can we get an update? I would assume the police would only talk to the ones that originally called to report the situation.
I'm impressed and touched by the action taken by many posters on this board. Most would have blown the guy's post off as just someone trolling. However, you guys took a "better safe than sorry" attitude and risked being punked to do whatever you could to prevent a sad ending to this story. Hopefully that will be the case.

Yeah I hope he's alright. This whole thread is depressing. Time to hop on over to the dawg night thread.

Sad that the OTLounge thread comments were so vile that people were banned & the thread was whacked... Gotdamn...
Posted on 7/18/14 at 5:06 pm to Sanford&MunSon
I think everything that could be done here has been done and I can't see any positive reason why this thread still stands. I'm proud of everybody and what was done but, no sense in leaving it up to embarrass him, or the family any longer.
Ra'd for dismissal so chicken can store it in the admin section.
Hopefully somebody's watching<

Prayers for the OP. I've known a few people who have lost someone to suicide. It's awful for a family.
Whatever has led you here, brother, there is always hope.
