How much do you want Mason to play on Saturday?

I'd like to see Mason play all four quarters on Saturday and put up relatively decent numbers because I believe that would be big for his confidence and IMO he gives us the best chance to win right now. I would also like to see him work with JSW and Malcom as many times as he can (albeit Malcom may not play a ton). I know a lot of people aren't the biggest Mason fans, so I'm curious as to what y'all think about the QB rotation against Vandy on Saturday.

Agreed, he needs to play all 4 quarters and we need to chuck the ball around all game. Richt then needs to apologize after the game to the Vandy coach and say "sorry coach, we needed to work on our passing."

Yea I'm not sure what I'm expecting to see. I think the coaches will really try and push the passing game this weekend to try and get him some type of confidence. If it's looking like we just aren't going to be able to pass the ball, maybe we see some Ramsey or Bauta? I don't see the coaches bailing on Mason right now but I also think it's getting to the point that the coaches know what we have in him and will either ride that out for the season or make a change (I'm not arguing one way or the other right now).

On the other hand, Richt has been sounding more and more like he's realizing we will live and die by the run and that at a certain point, our passing game may simply be needed to just keep a defense semi-honest and beyond that we just need to run it as much as we possibly can. I know teams need a more balanced offense to win it all and I'd love to win the east but I just don't see us being a complete enough team to be a playoff contender so sooner or later we may need to stop dicking around with forcing the passing game and just go with our stable of backs.

I want Mason to take the 4th quarter off with a 4 TD lead. Gurley resting the 4th with 180 yds and 3 TDs. I want Quavon to carry the ball 10 times for about 40 yards and a TD, and Chubb 120 yards and 2 TDs.

depends on what our strategy going forward will be. If we're gonna stick with Mason let him play the whole game, no matter the score. If we are serious about a QB rotation, then get whoever is going to be rotated as much work as possible.

I think Gurley will rest even more than the 4th this week. Richt and Bobo know he is our ticket and we are gonna need him bad for the next 3 games after this. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a minimal amount of carries and we see a lot more of Douglas and Chubb this week.

Yeah, hopefully Gurley wont need to play past the second half.

Gonna need him for Mizzou

Yea if we need Gurley in the 2nd half, we are done for the year. This is a bad Vandy team. Worse than any I can remember watching. And Robinette sounds like he is gonna be out.

I mean I know UGA can always find a way to keep another team in the game but if that happens Saturday....it's gonna be a really really long season.

yours is great too, Arya is one of my top 3 I'd say, can't wait to see how he keeps developing her in the Winds of Winter, assuming it comes out before he dies

I would really like this Vandy game to resemble the Vandy game of 2012. Vandy looks better than they did at the start of the year, but they are not good and we need to handle them to give our team confidence for the upcoming games.

Arya is a badass no doubt. I honestly don't know if he can wrap everything up in one book though, there are still so many loose ends. Have you read the Duncan and Egg Novellas? They are pretty short, but they helped ease my cravings for a couple of days

Yea Arya's new 'Mercy' chapter is badass.

I don't even see how he can wrap it up in the 2 that he says he has planned. I think with everything coming up in WoW though he's about to kill off several people. Whenever he has too many people in 1 location, he thins the herd because he doesn't need all those POVs anymore.

I have the Dunc and Egg novellas but haven't read them yet. I keep meaning too and then just get to busy to do it. I've heard they're great though so I'm planning on reading them soon. All that's gotten me by recently is reading some of the chapters he released for WoW but that just makes it worse haha.

Thats a good point. Wonder who will bite the dust. My only fear is that the show will catch up and pass the books. Though if that happens I guess I can just not watch the show.

I don't know if you ever venture off this board, but the Movie/TV board has like an 800+ page thread with a bunch of crackpot theories and such that is pretty interesting. There are so many angles he can go, its crazy. If he doesn't finish this shite it will be a travesty.

Yea once the show catches up too much I'm gonna have to go on hiatus. The books just develop the story and fill in details in a way that a show never could. It sounds like they're going against their original plan and are going to do flashbacks next season which I think is a good thing. Would've made a lot more sense if they'd done it for the Tysha story at the end of this past season...I was pissed they didn't because it explains so much but oh well.

Yea that thread is great, I posted on it a little during season 4 then just didn't have the chance anymore, last year was way too busy. May have to venture back over. There's definitely some great theories on there.

You guys are worried about the wrong thing. Gurley is in the thick of the Heisman race and both Marshall and Michel are down for now. He can handle it and will play the bulk of the game.

Mason however, should only play the first half unless it is still close in the 2nd. This game is our last chance to get Ramsey and/or Bauta good snaps against a decent opponent. If Mason implodes against Mizzou, I don't want to be throwing Brice out there with only a few snaps against Troy under his belt.

Also, if Mason gets his confidence shook because he didn't play all four quarters, then we should be benching him anyway.

To be clear, even if this is a fairly close game, I want to see Brice get at least around a quarter of PT. He can hand the ball to Gurley just as well as Hutson and we all know that if a game is close, The Todd is what we'll be riding to the checkered flag, not any QB on the roster's arm.

If UGA gets up on Vandy real good, get Ramsey in there for some meaningful snaps, and rest Gurley. But, I have concerns about UGA being able to get up on Vandy enough, and early enough.

As much as I want Mason to actually do good I have a feeling that week in and week out we will be talking about how lazily the ball gets to receivers.

Just looking at some stats:

Vandy D is 117th against the Pass and 111th against the Run

If we don't pass it atleast 30 times, it'll be disappointing. Give Gurley and Chubb about 20 carries each. Should put up 40pts in our sleep.

On the flipside, our D is 10th against the run
and 113th against the pass
