Rig has defended Grantham for a while now. But the facts remain our D was shittier than any other season last year.

Talks a classic game. I just want to see some over the top good defense.

I'm talking about Pollack, Odell, Charles Johnson, Thomas Davis, Blue, Paul Oliver, Tim Jennings, Tra Battle, Kelin Johnson, and Q. Moses on the same unit at the same damn time.

The current front 7 has the potential to have multiple impact guys. Pruitt needs to do his thing in the backfield. I do like him trying to get ultra athletic guys top to bottom position wise.

Deeprig what is your problem with Pruitt? Are you butt hurt over Grantham leaving us?

Everyone thought Grantham was a great hire. Came in talking about 3-4 defenses. He was gonna get our boys fired up. Told Richt he wasn't worried about numbers on defense because in the nfl a team only had 53 players, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I love the hire and Pruitts accolades and past. I'm very excited.

However, some, like Deeprig, want to see some results before ejaculating

Well there is a difference between the two hires imo. Grantham was like our 3rd or even 4th choice during our last coaching search. Pruitt is fresh off a national title and to yank him away from FSU was not only an incredible feat by our administration, but also Pruitt is much mor eproven then Grantham.

The reason people even liked Grantham was his NFL ties and all that did was junk up the fricking gameplan so bad that our players couldn't even run it right.

Gratnahm got lucky that when he got here Jarvis was here and made him look better than he was. While I agree I am cautiously optimistic about the fall and the defense, there is no fricking reason not to believe we will improve from last year. Defenses can't get much worse (secondaries for that matter) than last year.

This is just a negative mindset for no reason. It's completely obvious that everyone should (and probably does) have a "ok, show me" attitude. Talk means nothing until we see results on teh field. BUT, it's May. We aren't playing games yet. We dont' have any games to go on. So all we DO have to judge the guy on at this exact moment is what he's doing currently. And what he's currently doing is hitting a home run in pretty much all areas.

Also, as has been mentioned, this is different than Grantham. When you hire someone, it's only natural to point out the positives. Yes, Grantham had NFL experience, coached demarcus ware, was a tough guy as opposed to Willie's buddy routine, etc. But look at reality. He was fired from his DC job in cleveland I believe. He had no college experience. He was not our first option. Etc.

Not only has Pruitt never been fired from anywhere, he has consistently moved up in ranks. He's also been a flat out winner at every job he's had. He has never been on a bad team, and never coached a bad unit. From hoover, to alabama, to FSU, he has consistently had amazing results.

There really isn't any reason at all to be the contrarian role or negative about Pruitt right now. If we give up 30 points a game this year then sure..let's all bitch about him together. But right now the guy has done nothing do deserve anything less than high praise.

I just think Pruitt is too smart to be making these kind of statements if he doesn't belive it & see some things that he likes very much. No one wants to be seen as a fool & if CGP's defense isn't a great deal better this fall, the backlash on him will be pretty strong. Bulldog Nation can be brutal...

I just think it's refreshing he's being so straightforward. Most new coaches take the ray goff approach, "we're just working hard trying to get better.." Pruitt doesn't hold anything back when talking about what he's got.

Question 2) Any surprise moves on the depth chart?

We had very good players at most positions on our 2012 defense. Problem was, they did not play well as a team to stop the run. My hope is that our defense plays as a well coordinated team and the defensive players who are on the field most of the time are smart team players.

Regarding the secondary, Pruitt is obviously confident but frankly I don't think he has the players he needs to build a championship level defense. I hope I am wrong but that's my perspective. I would guess though that we won't see any more "immaculate receptions" under Pruitt's watch. Considering the pressure he has placed on himself, I' pretty sure he will emphasize that members of the Secondary WILL slap the ball down on the ground when defenders are are in position to make a play.

I think it's clear that secondary is our big major issue. Fortunately for us, secondary is his forte so I expect he'll get the best out of them that he can.

Also, it's not like we're trotting 2*s out there. Everyone in the secondary is a 4* or higher I believe. They've got the talent, they've just not gotten the PT or have looked subpar so far. Look at Mauger. He sucked last year. But he was a 4* with good accolades out of HS. He didnt' just forget how to play football. Hopefully Pruitt can get the most out of these guys.
